I mean the Wrexham thing probably depends on context. If there’s some sort of family connection so they’ve always had a soft spot for them then that’s not really a problem, if they’ve just decided they’re a Wrexham fan because of the Ryan Reynolds stuff then that’s maybe a bit different!

A good set of candidates, that, genuinely found it hard, unlike previous votes in Fan Director days when I always had a clear personal favourite.

Finally went for John and Paddy, simply because I know something about both of them which makes them good candidates in my eyes. Also because they come from quite different backgrounds but share  an unreasonable, irrational commitment to the club through thick and thin. You need that, to make something of a role like this. That's not to say the other three don't have that, just that I know these two do.

And while the voting system seems odd, it's also a smart way to use the existing tech to minimise people taking liberties (as @shirty5 said above). So hats off to whoever thought of that.

The fact that someone running for a fan advisory role spends a considerable amount of time and effort paying attention to another team in our league should be made aware to people voting no?

Dont think anyone is questioning her being a Charlton fan or a nice person, just that voters should have the full facts.

It doesn’t ‘hurt us’ but it may have an affect on being a Charlton fan advisor!
If voters are that bothered they’ll do their own research surely?

I’ve tried all manner of configurations. I give up.
Sorry Jon & Lewis, it just won’t let me vote for you.

PS, leave Jade be. Don’t vote for her, simple as that. A bit bored of the ‘she’s a Wrexham fan’ stuff. She’s done loads for our club. If she chooses to have a second club, who’s it hurting? None of you. Leave it please.
You need to enter the same new password into the second box.
I have, a number of times.
But because it’s telling me the password doesn’t match as soon as I enter the first one, the save new password remains greyed out 🤦🏻‍♀️

You said votes, are you saying Paddy isn’t fit?
I think everyone is saying that tbf

I thought outside the box and put the confirmation password in first and then the other and it worked! How bizarre.
I voted! Sorry Lewis if it had of worked last night you’d have got my vote but I had a real think on it and chose Vicky as she goes to both the men and women’s games.
Honestly though, I’m happy with whichever candidates get voted in. They’re all great 🤗
  • I feel sorry for the two candidates I bought. I expect to find them in a puddle in my front garden one morning after an impatient delivery driver chucked them there.
  • Thanks for the nice comments everyone!

Why not have all five and not bother with CACT, because long experience suggests the community trust’s interest in the club is only ever about the trust?

It does really good work but as much as different regimes have talked about harvesting its reach, its charitable status requires it to focus on its charitable aims. The club benefits reputationally and I am a big fan of that, but you can’t successfully align the two. Neither should the club focus on the trust. RD’s spend on the rugby club site in relation to CACT was a good example of the club losing the plot, IMO.

There’s no way on earth CACT can or will provide a level of challenge or oversight to the CAFC board.

Aside from that, I’m doubtful that a quarterly meeting will be able to achieve much. Good luck to those involved and well done on giving up your time, but don’t get used.

There is no way someone who now supports another club should be voted as our Fan Advisor.

I had similar problems, but that was due to my email address changing.

Emailing ticket@cafc.co.uk sorted it out by return.

But OK for such people to be on the board making the substantive decisions? 😉

At least Jade is a Charlton supporter. We’ve not been well served by people who aren’t, eg Slater, Jimenez, Duchatelet, et al.

Missing the point when she's competing in a vote against other Charlton supporters.

I understand your point but you seem to be implying she isn’t a Charlton fan, which is from my limited knowledge of her unfair. It may well be a consideration that she has other loyalties, but if the point is that you can’t ride two horses then many people are very happy to gloss over that when it suits them, including in relation to the current board.

it should have been received as a humiliation that a former chairman was arrested by police supporting Manchester City abroad while in his role at Charlton, but for some that was just evidence he was a football fan. Some of us knew better.

She does a lot of aways, that will go a long way to gaining votes.

Who’s the Wrexham supporter , it’s not me
Jade. She's genuinely a lovely woman (from when I've spoke to her), and does support Charlton, believe she also does a lot of good 'family' type stuff for the club.

She has, however, been associated with Wrexham, attending games etc and not sure if she's involved there as well in some capacity. She got a fair bit of stick for winning fan of the year or whatever it was at the POTY dinner.

There's no doubt she's good for Charlton though, among all the stuff she does for the club, when I was chatting with her at Burton away she got the coach up on the day. You'd have to be pretty bizarre to do that and not be a proper Charlton fan.
Nonsense.  The coach is a vessel into Nirvana

Have purchased Paddy, as he’s only one I ‘know’ and seems eminently sensible but have to make sure he doesn’t turn the pitch into a cricket square in the off season
