Delighted to have been shortlisted. For anyone who stumbles across this thread, here's my piece:

I’ve had a season ticket since I was six months old, attending my first game in August 1994. This club is at the core of my identity - I’ve followed us through thick and thin, and I adore the community when I’m at The Valley. Football creates a special bond: Charlton fans come from all walks of life, but as a crowd, for 90 minutes, we’re as one, with three points our only desire. As a representative of the fans, I’d relish the opportunity to communicate fan sentiment at board level, and elevate the experience for us all.

My professional experience would make me a very effective contributor at board level, helping provide checks and balances and hold the club to account. I work in the Sports, Gaming, Media and Corporate Affairs Practice at world-renowned executive search firm Odgers Berndtson, collaborating with numerous entities to find the best candidates for their senior appointments. Within football, this has included the Chair and CEO at Rangers, Newcastle United’s Sporting and Performance Directors, the COOs at Leicester City and Sunderland, the Women's Super League (WSL) CEO, and roles with the FA. This gives me a unique insight into sport strategy and governance; an eye for detail; an ability to challenge and manage upward; gravitas when communicating with all stakeholders; and in-depth wider sector knowledge.

I love Charlton Athletic, and I work, live and breathe sport. I’d be an effective contributor to any board level discussions and would welcome the opportunity to serve and improve the club I’ve followed all my life.

    --------

I think Jade and Lewis are both great reps too from their prior work and have done lots for the club. I'd bring something a little different, but I lack the experience in a similar previous setting.

Add in a bit about the home jazz studio and I reckon you’re home and hosed.

Having read the profiles I think I would go Jade and Jon but they are 5 superb candidates.
  • I like Lewis Catt, appears on Louis Mendes show and talks a lot of sense.
The voting system through the buying tickets online seemed a bit weird, but I followed through and it seemed to register my votes.
Thank you very much! Like John and Paddy I’m delighted to have been shortlisted for this role alongside such strong candidates.

I used up my 4 kids and wifes votes to supply Paddy (cos he plays cricket) , John (cos Henry's a grown up, 99% of the time, and i respect his opinion + blackpool is keen on him and he's a realist) and Lewis ( cos I like the palace fan fella he works with) 4 votes each and I'm not russian or a bot

I’ve voted but my votes will remain secret unless someone asks me if one is fit and one has a home jazz studio…

I've not made my mind up yet who to vote for (and not entirely sure if I can, will have to check) but it's a nice dilemma to have. I do like the fact that VIcky Saward explicitly mentioned the Women's team though, which I don't think anyone else did.

This so takes me back of the days of Fans Director, paper votes, brochures, 23 candidates, counting them all on a box in the east over a weekend, public voting on the day of the window we sold Murphy. Such fun...

Interesting the club have overlooked 35 other candidates for someone who spends half their time watching and supporting another football club, how is that person supposed to represent Charlton fan’s interest?

Jade. She's genuinely a lovely woman (from when I've spoke to her), and does support Charlton, believe she also does a lot of good 'family' type stuff for the club.

She has, however, been associated with Wrexham, attending games etc and not sure if she's involved there as well in some capacity. She got a fair bit of stick for winning fan of the year or whatever it was at the POTY dinner.

There's no doubt she's good for Charlton though, among all the stuff she does for the club, when I was chatting with her at Burton away she got the coach up on the day. You'd have to be pretty bizarre to do that and not be a proper Charlton fan.

    I'm torn for my votes.

Lewis seems a sound bloke and I like him on Charlton Live,

Jade's nice, and does the family stuff at HT

    Paddy seems sound on here,

And Jon sounds like he's done the milage, and I tip my hat to anyone following this pants team.

I don't know much about Vicky.

Either way, it's nice to see that whoever gets on will have a genuine connection with Charlton, and I hope they can make some sort of impact with their addition.

Good luck to all the candidates.

Trying to change my password so I can vote & keep getting this.
I’ve tried all manner of configurations. I give up.
Sorry Jon & Lewis, it just won’t let me vote for you.

PS, leave Jade be. Don’t vote for her, simple as that. A bit bored of the ‘she’s a Wrexham fan’ stuff. She’s done loads for our club. If she chooses to have a second club, who’s it hurting? None of you. Leave it please.

The fact that someone running for a fan advisory role spends a considerable amount of time and effort paying attention to another team in our league should be made aware to people voting no?

Dont think anyone is questioning her being a Charlton fan or a nice person, just that voters should have the full facts.

It doesn’t ‘hurt us’ but it may have an affect on being a Charlton fan advisor!

Voted for Vicky and Paddy but could easily have voted for Lewis or Jon too. I like that VIcky mentioned the women's team and I think it's important to have a female rep as they'll see/experience stuff that I won't.

Ricky and Lewis for me, although I was not sure if I was voting or buying them for nothing!

Agreed, if your going on an advisory board for Charlton representing other fans of the club then for me you need to be fully invested in Charlton and not invovled with another club.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions though and can vote how they wish, personally I think it's a waste of a space though and someone else could have been on the candidate list.
