They also seem to be doing quite well with players that we didnt think were good enough lol
In fairness Elliot Lee and O'connell were both liked here.
  • Well, don't buy a football club then.

The whole point is to buy it and chase a dream, it's unlikely many owners have made a profit from owning a football club until you get to the prem. If you aren't doing it with the ambition of reaching the Premier league and you don't have an affinity to a club, what's the point.

a football club is exactly like any other business. Anyone that buys one ( unless they are a fan of the club ) will set clear budgets and a business plan. Supporters might not like it but that is the facts. I fail to see how our ownership can be criticised for not spending money as they clearly are, it might not be enough for some people’s liking but be careful what you wish for as there are plenty of Nimers and Southalls about mate

I agree, it could be worse. If I truly hated the setup, I wouldn't attend games.

It's just when your owners say we have a top4 budget, we are aiming for promotion etc, and there are at least 3 teams outspending us, what's the plan.

As we can safely assume that when the next lot of championship sides come down, they'll have more expensive squads and be able to spend more.

Anyway my bad, I've started it again, just getting annoyed at seeing clubs who I expected us to match in terms of spending (Wycombe and Huddersfield) and clearly we can't/won't.

Mate Im as frustrated as you believe me but I think the trouble is more with our recruitment rather than our owners stumping up the cash. Its not how much you spend its what you spend it on ! ala Ahadme !!! if I was one of our owners I would be asking hard questions of our recruitment team regarding why they have spent a penny ( let alone the reported £1m ) of my money on someone who wouldnt look out of place in a Sunday league team
  • RB Ramsay gone on loan to Kilmarnock

"Walsall have rejected two bids from Wycombe for midfielder Jamie Jellis."

Blimey, is there anyone Wycombe aren't in for?

This is the unfortunate problem with overperforming expectations. If the manager goes then Low, Jellis and others are more likely to want to head off too

    Jellis plays for Walsall

My brain has gone, although point still stands just a division below!
  • All that money spent just to lose to Nathan’s Jones’ Charlton in the playoff final…

It'll be Wayne Rooney's Charlton Athletic beating Nathan Jones' Wycombe Wanderers in the final  ;)

Big piece on Wycombe's new owner , sounds like they're going away from finding non league talents to the analytics " buy low and hope to sell for big money" model.

Not knocking Wycombe, but why them? They have always been a small club and surely their ceiling is championship at best. Even with money spent they, can only bring in relatively low TV money and the gate receipts will remain small. Maybe it's simply a play thing for the rich owner, which I guess is most models nowadays.

And their ground can't be expanded due to access problems.  One of their previous owners had looked into building a new ground because of this, but in that part of the world it won't be easy.

    Showing your age there mate.

    Or cheap.

I know, who uses cheques anymore?
  • Bolton have accepted a bid from Huddersfield for Dion Charles... That'll be a formidable strike partnership with Charles / Taylor up top

  • Charles and Taylor might even be the best strike partnership in the league. Assuming they have the players to supply them that's a nightmare combo for defences.
  • Big fan of Dion Charles, don't know why Bolton would let him go in Jan
  • Evatts excuse all day long there for their recent struggles!
  • Huddersfield definitely seem to have had the best window so far.
  • Really don’t see it with Charles myself. I’d be much more excited about Joe Taylor if I was a Huddersfield fan.

Either would so a better job than Ahadme.
  • From what I heard/was told, that isn't correct for us. If that is the case, why didn't we spend a ton of dosh in the summer when we needed to bulk the squad up?

It isn't about the players themselves, or how good they may or may not be. It's the money.
Quite simply because our owners don’t want to invest that sort of money in the playing squad. Brum, Wycombe and Bolton in previous years have all spent significant sums

Charles passes a medical , 2.5 year deal at Huddersfield.

A lot of Bolton fans aren't happy about it. Others however are saying he's been off it this season and as he's 30 this year it's not a bad time to sell him.

You'd have to say though that the striker signings they've made in this window it will surely see Huddersfield get promoted with Birmingham.
