You'd presume so, because they're in the Premier League 2 along with the likes of Man City etc.

    Dixon scored the third goal.

  • Any away win against any Leeds team is not to be sniffed at even if it was in York and not Elland Road. Seems MacLorg, amongst others, had a good game. https://www.leedsunited.com/en/news/u21s-report-leeds-united-0-3-charlton-athletic

It is really hard to find a site that will show our standings in U21 (or U18) competitions.
Yesterday we played a match in our group of the cup.
Our group has Stockport, Leeds and Birmingham. I am pretty sure we play each opponent home and away, simply because I know we have played four group matches so far, and won two and drawn two.
I suspect we are top of our group with two left to play.

    Excellent.
     Thank you.
  • Blimey, I knew our U18s were struggling but that really puts it into perspective.

Isn't this predominantly a first year under 18s side that's also had to deal with the likes of Sol-Loza and Tagoe stepping up to the Under 21s too? So they've probably had to use a lot of U16s too.

    Interesting really.
I think it might be true that many players who would usually play for the U18’s are obliged to play for the U21’s. Manu Wales is an example. So there are some very young players in the U18’s I believe.
If we measure things purely in terms of results the U21’s have improved whilst the U18’s has got worse.
I wonder if losing the fantastic Steve Avory is a factor, but although wins are nice, it is the development of players that matters most…and yes we want our players to be winners.
It wasn’t that long ago some people were saying Tyreece Campbell would never make it, that was especially so when he played in a losing first team, now he seems undroppable for us.
  • Yeah, had forgotten we are using U18s in U21 squad more now so that would definitely have an impact.  It seems quite stark though to our table conquering teams of the past.
Of course if the U18s finished bottom but had just one Joe Gomez playing for them you would take that all day long.

A few months back I looked into our record for the last 10 years - we had the best average finishing position by far in both the south and north groups against the clubs who have remained in our category.

We’ve finished 1st for the last four years and had four 2nd place finishes in the five years prior to that.

So it’s a surprise to see them struggling like this, but as said we’ve got a smaller u21 squad so some of the better u18s have played at u21 level. In turn u16s have stepped up to u18 level.

Players like Fullah and Mbick are still eligible for the u18s but turned pro a while ago and are u21 regulars.

Steve Avory mentioned in a recent interview that he stopped coaching players some time ago and was only working with the coaches afterwards.

A lot of academy players were released at the end of last season. This has affected the under 18s this season. Several players have been absent because of injuries.

Added to that, all the teams above us are in higher divisions.

    Is this lad any good?
    On loan to Welling.
    Sahid Kamara

Well favoured by Jason Agigun, and he was a absolute hero at Welling.

Very skilful. It was a pity he left us.

Good to hear. Hope he gets a run tomorrow night against Weymouth.
Should make for an interesting evening having Warren Feeney back at PVR.
Wont sidetrack this thread any further.
    Thanks.

1pm today slated to play Brentford away.
We suffered a heavy defeat to them at Dartford earlier in the season when we went down to ten men early on when Mwamba was sent off.
I don’t believe there will be streamed coverage, and as it is out west maybe the weather conditions will mean the game is off.

What has happened to Asiimwe? Seems to have disappeared. Has he gone back on loan? Seemed a good prospect.
