Gavin Carter "It's a long-term project"

I suggest Gavin starts by looking at the employment contracts of the individuals and what notice period needs to be served before that payment can be reinvested into alternate options. If we are happy to change the team manager / coaching staff we should be happy to change the day to day operations people given lack of obvious tangible positive change.4

I heard that one of the backers wants out. Anyone got more info?0

Well to all intents and purposes ACA are out - as reported already in various places. It leaves the others to pick up a greater share.Kindoncasella said:I heard that one of the backers wants out. Anyone got more info?0 -
ACA had a tiny share I think, so I doubt that will have much impactWeegie Addick said:

I guess that's not to be unexpected, based on the trajectory of their current investment.Kindoncasella said:I heard that one of the backers wants out. Anyone got more info?
The key thing they will be considering is whether they will lose more by staying or going!0 -
More than 5%. Agree not a major issue but it does fall on the rest to pick up a little bit more between them.NabySarr said:

Carter nothing more than another chancer in my opinion. We need a total clear out.

Sorry can't agree with that. Gavin is a lifelong fan, and has put his money into the club. I don't see him as a chancer at all, however he now needs to act on what he's seeing and hearing, and he has to get rid of at least Scott in the first instance, if not the whole SMT, bring in a proper DoF to oversee Jones at least until the end of the season.Croydon said:Carter nothing more than another chancer in my opinion. The sooner Harpo, Groucho & Chico move their act elsewhere, the better.6 -
Just how I feel about it tbh mate. Just looks to me to be another bloke benefitting from a ludicrously complicated ownership structure that is offering absolutely nothing positive to the club currently. Couple of interviews have got people on side, but actions speak louder than words, and there's been very little done. Keep hearing he's a fan, but didn't the last rogue mob have a 'fan' in their ranks too?fenaddick said:
Genuinely fascinated by opinions like this, what are you basing that on?Croydon said:Carter nothing more than another chancer in my opinion. We need a total clear out.
I could be wrong of course. Basing it off my gut feel, nothing more. Said my opinion to be sure I wasn't trying to pass it off as anything more than just that, my opinion.2 -
He's had relatively little power until the last week or so as he's a fairly minor investor. He does fly in from Canada for most of our home matches which shows some commitment. It might turn out he is crap but we won't know for a few months at leastCroydon said:

if you are focusing on Carter then you are very much being distracted and focusing on the wrong person(s)24

You invest in a football club, for a bit of fun and excitement. The feel good factor, as seen in Wrexham. Something to look forward to.
Which is way off what's being delivered currently.2 -

I have no reason to doubt him but do we know how much he has spent?Redmidland said:

I ask because I understood by comparison CM investment was suggested as in lieu of payment for bringing the consortium together. Although of course we now understand he is now being paid of course in his CEO (?) role. No doubt as a consultant rather than PAYE employee.0 -
Surely no one can seriously expect to make an honest profit owning Charlton .
It’s a black hole for your dough, you may get £10m out of it but you’ll have had to have put £100m in to get the £10m back0 -
I liked Gavin’s interview in Feb stating 3-5 years, I thought it was a very realistic timeline for the kind of change we needed to implement.
I think that has now become at least 4 years given the last season and a half. The biggest thing for me, is the footballing side of the SMT was to implement a style that would create continuity regardless of managerial changes. For that to happen, there needed to be the most incredibly thorough, vision orientated, strategic restructuring throughout every facet of the playing side of the business. On pitch would be a consequence of those actions. For a season and a half there hasn’t been a single sign that was taking place. Every managerial appointment has swung in a drastically opposing direction and it’s highly likely we’re about embark on another. We’re not going up this season.
We’re highly unlikely to go up next season either.
Implement the systematic change that is necessary now or we’re just pushing the can further down the road.0 -

One would assume Methven sold them a Utopia.
With very little outlay required by investors due to his, Rodwells and Scott's ability to turn water into wine. Football men at the top of their game! Just pay them a decent salary and they'll take care of the rest.
In no time we'll be ripping it up in the prem. A seat at the Valley will be the hottest ticket in town. Sky will be banging down the gates for camera space.
Thump!1 -
No doubt true but why did Carter go along with it?carly burn said:

Thump! As a long term fan he would know the reality to be different. So is his cash stake very minor and chose not to correct the CM story to keep the rest interested?0 -
I happen to think Carters stake, Methvens stake and the Americans stake are much of a muchness.valleynick66 said:

Methven wants us to believe there are big pots of American cash propping us up, but I think in reality they are not much more invested than he is. They are not silly people , and will have a fairly straightforward 'out' should it turn to shit.......which it has.1
