Gunter played 61 minutes for Wales, on the right of a back 3 if the BBC formation is correct

Chris Gunter, technically still our player, is of course called up for Wales for their playoff and Nations League games

  • I'd forgotten that it isn't just the world cup where we will miss Wollacott

  • Now will Harness get the minutes, or will MacGillivray?

Rak-Sakyi will probably get an England U20 call up as well so that could be 2 key players missing for that game

Hasnt been called up by any of the England age groups for their upcoming games

So we'll only be without Wollacott for the Barnsley tie

It might be good for Wollacott to sit out of a couple of Charlton matches, he’s been a bit flappy recently.

We need 3 to get a game postponed and Kanu's injury means he wont get a call up.

With our mounting injuries we can't get this weekend cancelled against the free-scoring Peterborough

Thankfully we've got Danny Hylton poised and ready like a coiled spring.
  • We really needed one of our U21s to be called up by someone, anyone, to get this game off.
  • If AMB had been playing more, he would’ve probably been called up.

Thierry Small called up to what is basically the England U20s, who saw that coming?

Back in the day when I played championship manager, I would sign the faro isles or San Marino goalkeeper as third choice

I did say I thought Thierry had the highest ceiling/potential of any of our players including Leaburn a few weeks ago. He was Everton's youngest ever player at 16.1/2  and just checked and he had represented England in the younger groups.

I would play Small and Edwards and give Small licence to attack and keep whipping in those crosses similar to the good left footed crosses against the Chelsea 18-20 year olds. When you have Leaburn, Gassan or Godden why wouldn't you use their height or heading ability.
We make the pitch so narrow with our box midfielders where we need to utilise the width against most sides.

Even with the box midfield you can still push your full back up as you have two defensive 6's in midfield plus two mobile CB 🤞🏻 with the 4-4-2 box if you don't play the diamond.
  • Colwill, Palmer, Rice, Saka, Foden, Grealish and Alexander-Arnold all pull out of the England squad. 2 Chelsea, 2 Arsenal, 2 City, 1 Liverpool...

And all will be involved in the next round of premier league matches

Neither Karoy nor Kaheim came on for Jamaica as they narrowly lost to the US in the 1st leg of their Concacaf Nations League quarter-final.

The England Men's Elite League team (U20s) play against Germany tonight in Chesterfield and are then away to Poland on Tuesday (19th).
  • The International Break in Sept / Oct will be rolled into one from 2026.

Not sure why they dont just include the November one too

Do we get a development fee if he leaves on a free?

If a player has signed a contract with a club and is contracted with them prior to turning 23, that club will be entitled to a payment from the club he signs for next, even if his contract had expired when the new contract was signed.

Interesting article with Chris Lock here, what I'd forgotten is that he is on the coaching staff for the U20's which probably helped Small with his call up

But... But... But... Charlton fans can't see what he brings to a League 1 side!

This just proves that Charlton fans no more about football than international managers...

Congrats Conor... Be great for him, if he makes an appearance

Good to know too that he was born in Waltham Forest, so if he has a stormer, England still have time to pinch him ;)

All about opinions at the end of the day. If their manager thinks he’s an option then fair enough. Does not make any Charlton fans view on any different to what they have already witnessed

Good job Small was called up for England otherwise it would have been a moot point
