Really hope the players put in a shift today, and that the players raise there game, Personally I would want Leaburn to start, with Godden, then put Aneke on after 70 odd minutes. Hopefully a draw, but if we loose it could well set the pattern for the season.1

That would be my first instinct too, but if he insists of persisting with the high press we will probably need the likes of Campbell and Anderson's energy.hermann said:Start with the most experienced XI we can put out and I fancy us to get a draw
If it turns toxic we really need to remove the kids from the firing line0 -
Does it? Why? It MAY never have happened in a 46 game league season yet but never had a team in the lower leagues spent an 8 figure sum on a player either.ForeverAddickted said:Charlton Athletic vs Birmingham City

Well that first defeat has to happen somewhere... I wonder where.0 -
Let’s hope for a reaction today - and a proper gameplan. We started the season looking organised and efficient but I reckon Jones tried to tweak it when he could see we didn’t have any creativity, and that’s resulted in us being a halfway house. The chopping and changing of personnel to up the creativity levels hasn’t helped that. Give Godden a run and I’d also take Anderson out of it, urging Doc to put in a captain’s performance.

That midfield is so pedestrian , not that there are many other options . Nil pointsValley11 said:Let’s hope for a reaction today - and a proper gameplan. Bloody hell. Did you and @golfaddick meet up and take some funny pills last night?LargeAddick said:Aneke or Leaburn to start up top with Godden, whoever starts to be replaced by the other on 60 mins. I think Docherty will return in a midfield three with Coventry and maybe Taylor, possibly Berry. Back five picks itself imo, Ramsay, Mitchell, Jones, Gillesphey, Edwards. 2-0 Charlton win.

Feeling very optimistic, no point going otherwise is there? Way some people talk you'd think we are playing Real Madrid. They are the Midlands Millwall, going home with their collective tails between their legs. COYA.5

Think we need to go back to solid
NJ is still working out the identity I think but I’d prefer we stop leaking goals while he does
I also think Godden is an intelligent footballer and will hopefully link the play much better than Campbell and Ahadme1 -
No Dixon for the U21s today👀0

If Dixon is called up, see that a bit as Jones pushing his final panic button.NabySarr said:No Dixon for the U21s today👀
Wouldn't want his first game to be against Birmingham, seems like a silly introduction.2 -
Wow. Have you set up some kind of sophisticated and automated long distance winching system?Chunes said:I struggle to pick a team for this one. Our striking options are pretty dismal.
We pressed them well in the cup game and kept them at bay, but we seem to lack the edge and motivation to do that recently.
I'm going to have to literally drag myself to the Valley on Saturday.2 -
Yeah, the same one we used to get Ben Watson on the pitchjimmymelrose said:

Expecting a much improved performance from all players today, but unfortunately not hopeful of picking up any points.0

Think how much it would cost for match tickets for Arsenal or Man U. He did you a favour by saving you money 🤗Stuart_the_Red said:

It's what I've been doing since 1966.
Why the fuck did my late uncle support Charlton instead of Arsenal or Man utd or whatever.
I loved him dearly, but he did cost me a fortune in match tickets and grief being an Addick!1 -
Win, draw or lose, I'll be happy to see us just put a bit of fight in and show some kind of game plan. A lot to ask for I know.0

Anyone interested Posh winning 1-0 at HT0

It’s only possible if the players show the fight on the pitch to match your fighting talk. The kind of fight that only May and Dobson showed last season.LargeAddick said:Feeling very optimistic, no point going otherwise is there? Way some people talk you'd think we are playing Real Madrid. I can imagine being there with you, with the sun shining, and feeling the same optimism. The thing is that when we did that together we had players like Gritt, Stevey Brown, or Johnny Robinson. Now all I ever see are disorganised give a shit tosspots.
Anyway, I’ll be mowing the lawn, hoping you’re right.1 -
Could have been a Gills fan, or even worse, Millwall!ross1 said:

I think that’s shit odds and if I was still punting I’d be laying the shit out of us , buying money !Croydon said:We're 3/1 today just to win a home game in league one.0 -
Think we will put in a good performance today and Ahadme best performance in a charlton shirt. ( anything above 4 in the player ratings is a Win )0

My first in person game of the season, bumped into @Braziliance and the fans bar is busy but coping well. Taking those last two as good omens for a scrappy 1-0 home win2

Historically we’ve played better against the better sides so that suggests we could sneak
this. Though historically we’ve probably had better players than the current bunch. Hoping for a win today, Alfie is nailed on to score but he’ll be on the bench until the last 10 minutes so hopefully we’ll already be 2-0 up by then. 2-1 Addicks. Chuks, Miles
