    • Charlton Athletic have won just two of their last seven league games against Birmingham City (D2 L3), scoring more than one goal in just one of those matches.
    • Birmingham City have lost just one of their last six away league games against Charlton Athletic (W2 D3), scoring exactly once on each of their last three visits to the Valley.
    • After losing just one of their opening six League One games this season (W4 D1), Charlton Athletic have now lost three in succession and will be looking to avoid recording four in a row for the first time since August 2023.
    • Birmingham are the only side to have won all of their away games in League One this season (3/3). Only in 1984-85 in the second tier have the Blues ever won their first four away matches of a Football League campaign.

4-0 to Birmingham with May getting 2 (maybe 3)
    And celebrating in NJ's face.
  • I would be amazed if we get anything from this, but strongly hoping I will be amazed!
  • My season ticket reluctantly drags me to this game, but dreading it.
It is a form of masochism.
  • If Anderson starts  ( which I think he will ) something is seriously wrong 1-2  & jones blames himself for picking wrong side … again
  • Anderson will be picked because there is no alternative that is better.
Reckon the biggest problem though will be our midfield. Birmingham will be wondering do we have one, they will have 30 yard runs unchallenged.
Reckon this will be 3-0 to them.
  • This is a weird one as it will in no way define our season but still has the potential to be one of the most depressing days in recent years, and that's saying something. 0-4 with May to score at least twice, celebrating in front of the Covered End after getting booed.

Well if we have no better than a player who runs around like a Headless Chicken, fouling & giving the ball away then it’s even worse than I thought .
  • No Ahadme, Gillesphey or Docherty for me ..  some might say this game is not the right one for experiments but recently the 'status quo' players have failed and it's time for a rethink and to test a new way against the (so far) season's best
(I have no doubt that Jones will not make radical changes in formation and will only tinker with personnel)

    It's time for 4 3 3 .. Mannion .. Ramsey, Mitchell, Jones, Potts .. Taylor, Coventry, Edwards .. Godden, Leaburn, T Campbell

As said, Aneke to replace Leaburn if/when he tires .. I'd even advocate a 4 4 2 with Small (currently persona non grata it seems) in a mid four replacing T Campbell ..
I say again this will never happen, BUT as the Stranglers sang years ago 'Something Better Change' and soon

  • Guess the age, those hands look old and tired , I’m going for 68 ?
  • Waiting by my phone for Jones to ring and say I'm starting. That's the confidence I have that he will pick the right side. He needs to accept he is playing a top team at this level and put out as much physicality as he can and try to bully them.
  • Leaburn must have 60 mins in him - he played 60 mins plus a couple of weeks ago for the reserves.

Start him, Chuks on at 65 or so. End of.
  • My boss is a Birmingham fan.  He said they are very confident if a win and hence in his opinion we would beat them.
I put his mind at rest.  I reckon 0-4. Alfie May with a couple and me consoling my little girl as she cries throughout.

this is surely subjecting a child to unwarranted cruelty  :o
  • Have invited my Birmingham supporting neighbour around to watch the live stream. He's not sure whether to come because it will be embarrassing if Birmingham lose their first league game to us!!!!

I struggle to pick a team for this one. Our striking options are pretty dismal.

We pressed them well in the cup game and kept them at bay, but we seem to lack the edge and motivation to do that recently.

I'm going to have to literally drag myself to the Valley on Saturday.

Nothing wrong with our striking options. It's the service to them that is dismal. Both of Godden's league goals have come from crosses by Chuks. Get a winger putting those types of crosses in & we'd be winning more games.

I made a list the other day of what was wrong with our striking options. Also, we have one winger.
  • Alfie May 7/5 anytime scorer with Bob's lot.

  • Ah you've got Chris Solly visiting, that's nice.
  • 5-0 to Bham. Lots of boos.
