Well, I’m not blaming Chuks, but he has to bury that chance
He's missed a couple of easy headers as well recently.

I'm not blaming Chuks either for our recent performances but he 's got to be more clinical when he gets a chance.
At least when he came on, he made that run beyond their line. First striker to do that all game. We are so easy to play against before he comes on.

We have to start trying to play some football. There's a reason League 2 teams tend to go long and the higher up you go in the pyramid, players try to pass to each other.
To be fair we do play some nice football. Just not in the oppositions half !

Oh, and Campbell is a useful player and one of our few meaningful threats. Been used out of position as a forward and again today shoehorned into CM. The kids a winger.
    He played wide today?
  • I can handle losing to teams like Stevenage it’s happened far too often over the last decade but the way we play, the hoofball, the complete lack of quality in the middle of the park (Karoy showed glimpses) is just depressing

Long ball after long ball after sideways ball after pass back to the keeper after long ball

Only good thing was the music the Stevenage tannoy man was playing

Proper had our pants pulled down with some of these signings - Coventry isn’t in Albie Morgan’s league let alone Dobbo

Another Fucking dog shit gutless manager who had one decent spell at one club. Useless shit buying crap from 5 years ago. Shit football being played. Shit excuses from a crap manager. Proper unlikeable bloke. Got rid of of may cos he wanted to be top dog. A horrible manager. Didn’t even have the bottle to come and clap the fans after the game.

No more falling for his shit press conferences his shit high press bollocks. Shit manager as bad as that bald prick we had last. Fucking sick of this club
    At least it's not raining.

Pfff. Technically on the left?  He was floating all over the pitch and often in the middle looking a bit lost with Edwards going past him, the formation didn’t work either way and we didn’t see him getting one on one wide anything like enough.

  • Who wanted my thread closed down? I guess tempting fate can work both ways...

Interesting to see Jones call Gillesphey the best technical player at the club.....
    He said Technician!
Heard there was a problem with the lights at the changing ground during the week and he sorted it.
  • That was tough to watch. No quality up front today. Godden and Kanu pose zero threat and we must have the worst set piece taker in the league. That free kick in the first half from 20 yards out was pathetic.

Pressure will be put on Miles to rush him back which shouldn't be necessary.

Great business by the way having only one winger in the squad. Now we must resort to playing a kid striker out of position on the right.  Jury is also out on Godden, so poor today, and Berry and Docherty. They should lead this side going forward especially at places like Stevenage but so far have shown almost nothing.

Will admit to paying less attention second half but in the first I thought he was almost entirely on the left and got one on one quite a few times. Our only threat really.
  • I’m sorry but chucks is not ever going to be the answer. The défense works  ok- we need Taylor or someone to start to playing football in midfield and Leaburn and Dixon (give him a chance at least) up front. They can’t do any worse can they.

Looked like he was running in quick sand though so hense the rushed shot

We must have the worst dead-ball kicker in the league.

Amateurish performance against a shit opposition.  Would like to say we're better than that, but there's been no evidence to suggest it.

If we're gonna finish in the top 6, let alone top 2, something drastic needs to change
Based off what I've seen so far top 6 is for the birds. Never going to happen

I’m worried that Jones seems to think we ‘passed through them’ and got into lots of good positions.

    We didn’t.

No attacking style of play in evidence, now at the end of September

I was going to have a long rant but I just can't be bothered.
    So I'll keep it short.

    Utter fucking shit.
Away on holiday. Predicted we would lose and hey presto we did. Got ridiculed last week by the all knowing saying this side is not capable of finishing top 6. Wonder if they have changed their tune now.

Boring football by players who simply arnt good enough. And a manager past his sell by date. One trick pony with one club, found out everywhere else he's been

Can't be arsed to look but is Jones record as Charlton manager. 7  or. 8 wins I guess out of about 25 games is it.

  • Can see the first appearance up front of Leaburn and Dixon on Tuesday at Bristol Rovers, has to be at least tried out ffs, 'coz at the moment we ain't got a clue up top.
Kanu may as well have stayed in the dressing room I'm sorry to say...just no creativity at all from the back three forward, save TC, he was outstanding again in trying to get things going.
Mannion again Man of the Match, he must feel like pulling his hair out the way he was totally exposd for their goal.
Jones, ffs do something now man because we are starting the slippery road to mid table mediocrity already if you don't...

Too many team changes, none for the better, the blindingly obvious inability to score and a new propensity to allow if not soft, then sloppy goals add up to a sloppy mess  .. the midfield is just not functioning, where is Taylor ?,  everyone else has had a crack at creating something, why not him ? .. I suspect that Jones's response to another defeat will result in more changes (even Taylor and/or Edun ?) leading to possibly more confusion ..
I fear that we will have to wait for the new year window for any improvement, IF there is any more money in the transfer kitty.
I was planning to come down to the Valley for the Brum game, but after that dispiriting away day, I am not gonna bovver. A loss at Bristol Rovers who are on a 4 game losing streak and the excreta   will surely hit the fan (not us hopefully)

Trying to be calm after that is hard to do but Nathan Jones continuation with what is essentially five at the back is mind boggling, his continuation with allowing a man who clearly cannot deliver a free kick or corner highly annoying. The two wing backs are not playing as wingbacks and are not providing anything because of that, Nathan Jones then plays three up front so effectively we have a two man midfield. I don't care if we have Alfie May, Killer Hales, Clive Mendonca, they would not score because chances are not being created because the midfield cannot get to grips with the game because they are over-run. It's no coincidence that Coventry had his worst game for us and in answer to posters who think the players are not good enough, they are, it's the managers tactics that are not good enough. If there is no change in those tactics and we lose the next two games, Jones will be on thin ice and I will join the call for him to go.

It seems that plan A is to keep it tight for 60 mins & then bring on Chuks to win it. I suppose it's a plan but problem is that recently we've been 1 down at this point & history shows that we are not good at turning that scoreline around.

And now according to lots on here , plan B is to pin all our hopes on Leaburn (and even Dixon) to give us the lift we need. I think it could be asking too much of Leaburn seeing as he's been out for almost a year & even when fully fit he was not exactly a 20 goal a season striker. As for Dixon......the lad's not even played a single league match so I wouldn't be putting too much faith in him turning things around for us.

Another turgid season ahead but hopefully we shouldn't be battling relegation again.

Where are the goals coming from?
I ask this question seriously...there are nowhere near enough goals being scored to win regularly and ultimately get promoted...tough defence is great but without goal scorers, mid-table at best...and that's a big ask on our current form just now.

All over the pitch apparently. Or that was what we were told in the summer.
Well, unfortunately we're seeing an absolute dearth of them just now.
