Frees up Conor Coventry for a League Two loan40

If he proves to be as good as his namesake who played for us years ago I'll settle for that.25

There’s only 2 A Campbell’s11

not another Campbell, confuses me when doing the stats

Good, we’ve filled both of the Campbell berths. Now just need to get a Matt Smith across the line.24
-
I am pleased with this signing.
He is someone known to Nathan who is his type of player. When we start the Saturday / Tuesday grind we will need the squad depth. This was something we have not enjoyed for years.
It is ironic as a loan that his wages are probably going to be subsidised by Luton and we are likely to offload Fraser and pay for him to return to Scotland. This feels like we are getting something back.

Luton fans seem to rate him very highly.
Cawley quoting NJ at weekend: "So anyone who comes in now we'd like, one, for them to know how we play and really improve us on every level."
Look forward to seeing him play.8 -
Millwall fans don't rate him at all. Yes you might say they would always say that, but they were complimentary about Mitchell0
-
Never heard of him until now. 43 games in a promoted championship side of 22/23 season is an impressive pedigree.
From an outside perspective playing for Millwall on loan under three managers it’s understandable why he probably didn’t play as much he would have wanted.6 -

Millwall were a bit of a mess last season with all the managerial changes, not easy for any player on loan in those situations.cafcsinger said:Millwall fans don't rate him at all. Yes you might say they would always say that, but they were complimentary about Mitchell
Jones knows how to get the best out of him and Campbell knows what will be expected of him. I can see this being another good signing if we see the Campbell that played for Luton.17 -
Id take the word over Luton fans where he was in a settled team, more so than Millwall who were a mess at that point.

If Jones thinks he’ll make us stronger then happy days. I wouldn’t underestimate the competition we’ve had for this signing either so lots of positives to take from it.4

Probably too scared not to becafcsinger said:Millwall fans don't rate him at all. Yes you might say they would always say that, but they were complimentary about Mitchell6 -
Whose position does he take? Berry or Coventry or Docherty? TBH, I don’t know too much about him and as much as we need strength in depth, it’ll be a shame to drop one of those players 🤔1

Lloyd Jones was rubbish for us last season when he was asked to pass out from the back, but now he's got the right players around him and his job is just smashing the ball with his face he's been superb. Coventry was lost alongside Dobson but with a good preseason and work on the training ground he just ran Bolton off the park. Campbell is our starting striker after Appleton made him into a shell of a winger who was about to leave the club. Put the right players in the right system with the right manager and it makes all the differencecafcsinger said:Millwall fans don't rate him at all. I think he could take any of them and that’s a real positive with the intensity we’ve been playing at. Absolutely no room for strollers in this squad._MrDick said:Whose position does he take? Another one needing a dam good scrub with detol and a wire brush before having a medical. #Spanners 😉13

Slightly odd that Luton loaned him out last season, when he played far more minutes in their Championship promotion side than Luke Berry who they kept.1

Those are not the only 3 and with our gameplan we need replacements and in game rotation. Even with the new Campbell dropping anyone of them is probably not on the agenda, it’s just a question of who starts each match._MrDick said:Whose position does he take? If you want to wind up Leuth then 100% definitely Coventry who isn’t fit to lace Dobson’s boots._MrDick said:Whose position does he take? Berry or Coventry or Docherty? TBH, I don’t know too much about him and as much as we need strength in depth, it’ll be a shame to drop one of those players 🤔
Otherwise from what I’ve read about him he’s competition for any of the midfield roles. Assuming it’s confirmed it’ll be great to have a proper senior alternative rather than completely relying on Anderson (though he still has a part to play).3 -
Edwards wanted ballet dancers in midfield and not hard working hard playing grafters like Jones wants. To be fair Edwards didn’t get a tune out of anyone did he. It’s horses for courses dependent on how managers want teams want to play. Can’t say I know that much about AC but from what I’m reading he fits Jones style perfectly.cafcsinger said:Millwall fans don't rate him at all. He should slot in nicely alongside Fraser.8

He would be a great signing.
Another one who understands what Jones wants and knows what it takes to get promoted.
Happy that this will give us the depth in midfield we need to continue playing this way.2 -
This means one of two things 1) NJ sees him as depth in Docherty’s role or potentially starting instead of Berry when he wants more grit against the better league one sides 2) he sees him as a reserve/competition for Coventry and there are enough clubs interested in Terry Taylor that we might be able to get a decent fee for him1

This is why he didn’t play much for Wall.Henry Irving said:

Assuming that NJ will go with 2 forwards, 2 mids and 2 defenders for match day reserves, I am assuming that Kanu is the one who will be dropped. Wonder how our fans will feel about that.0
