  • Wiggins right foot was only for standing on. Who can forget when he played right back when Solly was injured. Lol

I never used to miss a home game and I can never remember Wiggins playing RB 🤔
Must've been a one off in an away game ?
Chris Solly playing left back on occasions and being restricted I can recall.

That was my first match at the Valley post cataract op. What a difference it made! I can make out the individual players up the far end - which I can now see is called the ‘Jimmy Seed Stand’. Amazing!
Can’t wait to have the other eye done. 🙂
That's great to read...I'm waiting on cataract operation...must admit the white text on a red background on the big screen is (for me) almost impossible to read...hoping I don't have to wait too long.

Bolton are an excellent team. An upmarket version of Leyton Orient.
Something all teams should strive to be.

I got new glasses in June and was hoping that I would be able to read the lineups on the Big Screen, made no difference, I probally sit the furthest away in the NWQ, the text colouring does not help. Will get cataracts done in the nest year, so will see if that makes any difference.
  • Hope not but it wouldn't suprise me. I have had a view for a while that when a dangerous tackle like that is reviewed after the game, the player making the tackle should be out for 3 months. That would IMO have stopped Clare and prevented a nasty injury, and other a*holes going for highly dangerous challenges. It seems the victim pays the price and they get away scott free. I am sure he didn't mean to hurt Edwards but he took the risk to do so and that is because he knew the person who was most likely to come out worst wasn't him.
I was thinking similar. If a player makes a reckless and unnecessary challenge that injures an opponent, the player making the challenge should spend the same time out of action.

He did in this game. Evina was left back. Did not work at all, Leon Cort came on for evina and rhoys went back to left back and Michael Morrison went to right back.

I could only just read the players names on the screen wearing glasses (I’m Covered End upper). I didn’t realise until just before half time that I could read the names now with no glasses. And don’t worry about the op. It was painless and only took about ten minutes. 👍

It’ll make a huge difference. You’ll be so happy!
  • I only saw the second half but we looked very comfortable and by far the better team. Compare to last season where it always felt like we were going to concede. Ramsay, Jones, Mitchell and Coventry were all very good. Gillesphey was solid too but I do feel we can improve on the LCH position. Really like Berry based on the cup game and what I saw of this one. Got a good engine, quality on the ball and gets into good goalscoring positions - he'll get a fair few for us if he stays fit.
  • A bird shat on me on the way to the ground today. Missed my head but the shirt and left shoe got a splattering. I decided it was a good luck omen and, of course we won.

So, do I go and stand under the same tree next week?
Yes, and stand under it every home game, in fact, stand under all the time for extra luck 😄

Whoever came up with that Luke Berry song needs a lifetime ban.

That and the knock off version of Southgate's chant. Both absolutely terrible.

Thank you. I think Solly was injured or unwell in the warm up.
  • When I commented on a past player who has joined another club, I correctly, was told it was boring.
Thinking about it, mentioning ex-players who play for other clubs is not important to our season.
I intend not to mention any again and hope others will do the same 🤔

    "I'm really not being negative".

"When we go a goal down at Bolton".

    No hope.
lol. Don't ever be a journalist as you can't even quote properly.

Never said " when we go a goal down at Bolton".

I said "when we get tested (next week against Bolton ?) and when we go a goal down I hope that we respond".

We might not go behind for another half a dozen games, but when we do (which WILL happen) I sincerely hope we have the oomph up front to bring us level.

Golfie, that was a Nigel Farage, 'I didn't say it was, I was suggesting it might be' type quote.

This is going to sound like I'm digging you out but I'm genuinely not! You were feeling much more negative after Birmingham but I don't think we played too differently. The difference was personnel not playstyle for me. What's prompted the change in mindset?
    I don't think you're digging me out.

Against Birmingham I thought the team itself made a huge difference, and in turn made the playstyle worse. My concern was goals, and how Birmingham just looked a lot more clean cut than us, especially being a fairly new team as well.

With Orient, our closing down was much better imo, and we didn't look like we had many mistakes in us.

I usually just say how I feel on the day, and yesterday was a positive experience. I still think we are missing quality, and I am not sure we have enough to get promoted, but one thing seems for sure, we won't lose many.

If Jones is allowed to bolster this squad with a progressive centre back, a midfield maestro, and just in general bolster the team with a goalie, a forward etc, we could be right up there.
  • Are you ok? This is most unlike you, to be so positive.;)
Wot m8, can't even be happy when my own team wins.

I'm always positive, just if I see something that doesn't look good, I'll say it. Need to show up in these next 3 games now, which are much harder tests imo.
  • Very late post, I've had an absolute nightmare today with my camera.

On to the game! A really enjoyable day out. Lovely weather, nice atmosphere, and 3 points to go with it.

I felt although we were fluffing chances, and our crossing was poor, we look so tough to beat, and honestly, after the crap served up these last few years, I'll take it. Not many teams will beat us I imagine.

Special mentions to Ramsay (motm) and Lloyd Jones, two very impressive performances from the pair. Also thought Coventry, Docherty, A.Mitchell, and of course, the match winner Berry, all had quietly good games, and looked fairly comfortable.

I like the look of newboy Gassan, reckon with a proper striker partner, he will be a problem, and I feel Mannion may be really decent business. He has the benefit of a good defence infront of him, but he looks very assured.

Roll on Bolton, which I feel is a real acid test for this team.

    Happy Sunday addicks!
Thanks for the video as couldn't make it down there yesterday so was glad to get a flavor of the atmosphere and game, cheers! And well done on the 5 for £5, nice idea.
Did you keep a special eye out for Coventry like you mentioned before, and if you did what did you think?

    My pleasure,

I was really excited to do the 5 for 5, been thinking of ideas like this all summer to keep the vlog ticking, unfortunately, I think the execution was a little poor. Audio and a weird camera angle, I need to start getting to the Valley earlier and making a real day of it!

I did, he looked solid, everytime he received the ball, he got himself out of trouble, or found a pass. His corners were woeful, but he had a decent game. I still think we are really missing a creative spark, someone who can just run past a man in the middle. We don't have anyone like that imo.
  • What was the attendance yesterday?

Nothing wrong with a 1-0 win.

Curbs and the great Jimmy Seed both had their fair share of one nils.
