Director of Performance Services Dr Will Abbott will leave the Charlton Athletic in September after nearly two years with the club.
Abbott has played a key role in shaping the club’s performance department since his arrival in November 2023. During his time at the club, he has developed staff and implemented processes that have positively impacted all aspects of Charlton’s performance services.
Managing Director James Rodwell said: "We’d like to thank Will for his contributions to Charlton since his arrival. He has played a significant role in driving the club forward, and supporters will have seen the dramatic improvement in men’s first-team player availability and overall fitness.
"While we reluctantly accept his decision to take on a new challenge, he leaves behind a strong foundation - an excellent performance team and robust systems that will continue to benefit the club for years to come.
"We wish him all the best for the future and he will always be welcome back at The Valley."

Has to be going to one of the Big prem sides , but this has come absolutely out of nowhere and feels like a loss that's going to be very hard to replace.
That's a kick in the nuts. I saw a stat the other day that we'd scored the most late goals in all four divisions. He's arguably been the ownership's best signing.
Are these people leaving because there’s a toxic atmosphere at the club, and they want out, or because they’ve done such a good job that it’s been easy for them to make that progression to a ‘better’ post.
I expect it’s the latter, and whilst it’s a loss for Charlton, it does not mean they can’t be replaced.
Sure they’re be lots of panic and supposition on here either way.

Huge loss
Terrible news.
I'm not surprised he's been poached, other sides would have seen how fit we were last season, and the late goals we kept on getting.
Will be very difficult to replace
he’ll probably end up in the Prem at someone like West Ham or Spurs who have a history of lots of injuries.
I expect it’s the latter, and whilst it’s a loss for Charlton, it does not mean they can’t be replaced.
