charltonman2016 said:Will post more after the game on this. Scott labelled George as an average league 1 player ans can only see him as a squad player going forward at Charlton. Doesn't believe he is a player to get us promoted.
Only offered a small increase on his current wage. George wanted to stay. It is not about the money and that is why his father has allowed us to post this because he doesn't want fans thinking his boy is leaving for money.
George wanted to be in and around the wage of most of the players. Tennai Watson is on around 1k more than George for example.
The final insult was making him train with the u23s last 2 days. He has been desperate to move him on last couple of months. Obviously I am biased and get on well with George and his father but thought it best I share with you all 👍🏻4 -
Sad to hear and read.0

Training with the 21s? Fucking hell that does seem to be a real shambles if so.0

Andy Scott you need to go.
This source is from the horses mouth.
He was being forced and train and play with the U23
so our best player for the last three years has been fucked off by Andy Scott6 -
At the end of the day George is gutted. Loved the club, young family and wanted to stay but has been pushed out by 1 man who don't rate him.
As I say I'm sure you will all hear more in coming days.

It’s really not mistreatment to be offered a contract which he does not think he is worth. Thats just football. Though I’m sure will cause lots of debate on here if he was worth more or not.
Again if there has been broken promises, lies and deceit - that’s different, and should rightfully be called out if it happened.Otherwise at the end of the day, he has moved for money, whatever his dad says. If they were confident he could get a decent gig, on better money than we offered, when his contract ran out in 6 months. Then he would have stayed.1 -
This is in no way a good bit of business no matter how it's spun or how much cognitive dissonance and head in the sand is applied.
Our most committed and consistent performer. If we were having a summer clear out preparing for a Championship top 6 push then I could understand it but we are not. Dobson and CBT made the team and squad far stronger than it is now. Weaker for letting the 2 of them go and whoever has decided on this has gambled and is a fucking clown if it costs us.
Jesus wept, can we not have one week of unfettered optimism at this circus before another grenade is dropped in the tent.15 -

Andy Scott you need to go.
It's true, Scott has effectively forced Dobbo out.
He did sign a pre contract and he's definitely off to Hungary.10 - Sponsored links:

Disgraceful. Andy Scott so far has signed a whole heap of duds and let our two best players go. Genius24

Sorry I might be in the minority here but if he was on 3.5k a week and we've offered him 4k a week, despite the fact that apparently our director of football "doesn't want him", then that doesn't add up to me.
If he didn't want him at all he wouldn't have been offered anything.
If Dobson thinks he's worth much more than 4k a week, then sorry to say, he's not.
It would be a shitty end to his time here, but let's not overinflate his worth just because he's been less shit than most of the squad.13 -
Will be interesting what Curbs and Brown have to say on this matter (within the limitations of what they can on the club payroll)0

Scott is a pleb. Just look at his approach while at Notts Forest.1

Look on the brightside...
If Dobson is training with the U23s, that should be great experience for the kids coming through - Having a Senior member of the squad working with them.6 -

In reality the problem started about 12 months ago, there's no way we should be letting any important player enter the last 12 months of their deal without a solid offer on the table.5

Like Semedo, Dobson could play at that level in the right team, but probably wouldn’t be a regular either. I see him as the sort of player who wants to be at a club where he’s a regular starter.
Taylor and Coventry both looked like alternatives and future replacements for Dobson to me so I’m not surprised to read he’s expected to move on.1 -

Bit confused as to why he's picked Hungary though. He'd easily get another league one gig when he's a free agent and then wouldn't have to move his family so far. Just think it's a strange choice.10
-
Just when the Charlton hierarchy seem to be getting things right (January window, Jones and Hart appointments) they manage to fuck this one up very, very badly. Not quite in the same league as Duchatelet/Meire ditching Yann, but in the same ball park. Idiots.12

Yes, we are Charlton Athletic and not Dobson and CBT FC.
However, we are closer to the drop with both of them leaving. Another masterstroke from our recruitment team. Brainless.3
