All teams have them and all managers have them. Things need to improve and improve quickly but Appleton started off well enough and once we see the new players integrated I think our results will steady. Is he the right man going forward ? I don’t think so but I also don’t think sacking him now is particularly helpful.
I agree with giving managers time, however, the position we're in is not good and IF he was kept throughout February but we were in a worse position than we are now it is inevitable that he'll be sacked.

Tuesday night attendances at the Valley are notoriously low. If this individual is still charge for the Northampton game, then yes it will be toxic, but a lot of people won’t bother going in a ground that will be 25% full on a January evening
This board cannot be that naive when the results have been unacceptable.Get rid of him, put Fleming or Pearce in charge until the end of the season and get some tactical nous back into this team for starters1 -
Is he gone yet?1

Wouldn’t trust the SMT as far as I could throw them.2 -
If he has to go…….my choices would be Rowett or Bowyer.4

Oh the heady day's when 7th in the Prem was considered not good enough!!...🙄2 -
Let give Pearcey a go until the end of the season, hopefully he can secure us League 1 status, and then bring in a manager with a good track record of promotion from League 1. Personally Id like to see Nathan Jones as the manager.0

Appleton had actually lost the majority of the fans on 8 September when he was appointed. The current terrible run that started when we were humiliated by Cray Valley Paper Mills, has now shown anyone who actually supported Appleton back in September, that Appleton is not the manager to take the club forward.
He has lost the fans, and now appears to have lost the team.
Things need to change, and change very fast.7 - Sponsored links:

Yeah need a new guy asap so he can get to work ensuring we stay up, hopefully a good end to the season leading to some optimism for next, hit the ground running for next season.0
-
Sack him what's the difference even if we let a traffic cone manage till the summer we are shocking.0

Jones would be my preference because we already have a link with him, and he has recent success at this level.0 -
Get Neil Warnock in.He would sort this lot out.I don’t care about his age.13

A few weeks ago my thinking was that the squad isn't great and he needs to be given some time to see what he can do when better players are brought in. But although the squad has been poor, we're not that poor. We should still be getting results against the likes of Burton, Port Vale, Orient, Cambridge and Carlisle.
I'm going to assume he won't be sacked before Northampton but if we fail to win on Tuesday then he has to go before we're sucked into a proper relegation battle. After Tuesday can anyone honestly see us picking up many results in the next 7 games with him in charge? We play Derby twice as well as Blackpool, Bolton and Portsmouth.
If the ownership are prepared to spend decent money on bringing in better quality players with the aim of finishing this season strongly and then launching a promotion push next season, then they need to do the same with the man who is leading them. Appleton isn't going to have us contending.1 -

going for the cheap option and/or managers that have achieved nothing in League One at least.6 -

I get why some want managerial stability. I expect all do. The day may come when it will be the wrong decision to bin off a struggling manager too soon, and maybe its happened with others before him, but is today that day?
There really is no need to rubbish his past successes, or even outright lie that he hasn't achieved anything in the past at any level as I've seen posted elsewhere on here, because his record with us is justification enough for questioning the board's loyalty to him now.
Few would have expected a two goal defeat yesterday to undermine the activity in this window so far, owners included. Since Rodwell saying MA had their backing, we've played two, lost two and he was wary about saying MA had been given a vote of confidence. And whatever happened to bringing in a winning mentality? We've been mentally fragile for weeks. Did that not apply to results?
Apples is surely a goner, but do they know what next and should MA stay on in the meantime?

So keep Apples till the end of the season even if he relegates us so we can all feel better that we didn't sack a manager quickly? Fuck off.3

At the time I was a member of The Vice Presidents Club of about 50 or so and not one of them were calling for him to be sacked.4 -
There are people on twitter saying give him time to bed this squad in. We do that then league two awaits. There just isn’t time. If there was a better time to sack a manager. It’s now.0
