I think that's probably true of virtually all of our managers in the last 40 years. Even those that did go on to manage at a higher level, only did so once and with no longevity whatsoever - Bowyer (16 months at Birmingham), SCP (14 months at Huddersfield) and Curbs (21 months at West Ham). In fact, of those three, only SCP has had another managerial position (14 months at Southend).Braziliance said:Cowleys will do a good job at Colchester imo, will probably have a dabble at them going up next season.
It's interesting how all our recent managers/links have ended up with League 2 gigs. Garner at Colchester, Jacko at Wimbledon, Adkins at Tranmere, Cowleys who we were linked now at Colchester. Russel Slade also found himself in league 2 shortly after leaving us.
Shows we probably make poor choices in terms of manager, only Bowyer really moved up a level.
Although there is one exception to the rule and that is Pardew. In his case, it might have been who he knew rather than what he knew.0 -

I wouldn't say Chrissy Powell did, we were in the same league as Huddersfield when he joined them and I remember us breezing past them at home 3 nil. So more of a sideways step rather than upwards but I see your point.Addick Addict said:

We don't seem to be able to identify managers who are on the up or when we do, we don't give them the tools to make us competitive enough1 -

Burton Albion have appointed former Swansea City, Barnsley and Inter Miami assistant manager Martin Paterson as their new boss.
The 36-year-old ex-Burnley, Huddersfield and Northern Ireland striker left Swansea in December when then boss Michael Duff was sacked.
