2nd round draw live from the Valley? Normally right after the last match or would it be on the following Monday?

They'll be okay, you cannot see much in the dark.

Pleased from Cray as the windfall they'll receive but fail to see the interest for the TV viewers.
A non League team take a local scalp?

Won't be going, would have on the Saturday. Already arranged Sunday lunch out with friends and between us don't have another date free before Xmas.

of all the potential issues with a 5.30pm Sunday KO....when to eat your roast dinner must surely be the funniest
Not just me to think about, there are others in the household too.

If it is live on tv at 5.30pm then I might stay at home and watch it. Live at 12 noon, 2pm or even 4pm then I'd probably go, but seeing as football has sold its soul to the devil then it reaps what it sows.
    Oh the drama!

At least the good news for both sides, especially CVPM, is that they will get more money out of it now it’s on the telly. Can see the crowd being sub 2k now.

Can’t see it being that low but I can see us struggling to get 5K

    Not the Origami Outfit.

Just guessing but the interest of viewers may be balanced by the logistics of Friday Sheppey, Saturday Bromley, Sunday Charlton. Bits of kit used three times without long distances.

Outside of our own view of the world, I think the tie does have some merit for the neutral. We have a relatively decent recent history, there's a good "local" aspect, they are tier 8 and they are the works team of a paper mill (all except the last bit is true, but its still an interesting backstory - expect the "PM actually stands for Paper Mill" to be trotted out regularly).

Agreed, but surely other games better suited, particularly if the non-league side are at home.

Perhaps the BBC thought the viewers might like to see plenty of goals. I'd expect us to score at least five or six against these if we field our first team.

A Peter Varney tweet wouldn't go amiss and stuff the Sunday roast 😁

If it is tv a 5.30 kick off in Sunday is a really shitty time. Ok for travelling fans as its local but messes with people who want to eat dinner at a reasonable time.....and not just some greasy burger in the ground.

Game finishes around 7.30pm. Time to get home (even local) and its 8.30-9pm.

Cant eat beforehand either unless you have a big Sunday roast at lunchtime & then sandwiches or something light when you get home/on the way home.

And it's a Sunday. Lots of chippys are shut on a Sunday.

    Grrrr....
Brilliant... this is getting a mention on our community radio show tonight (hlr.com)  you've even given us our topic of conversation!!

I did say I’d consider watching it if played in my back garden - well the lounge isn’t far but 5.30 on a Sunday, clashing with songs of praise - really ??

  • Will ask my Mansfield Town supporting mate how it was.
  • Are parking restrictions in place on a Sunday or is it like a weekday after 630pm? 😀

So we've gone from great game, quality tie to I'm not going because I can't have my Sunday roast.
Just as well we've got no chance of playing in the Prem anytime soon, isn't it? Otherwise I wonder if some of our fans may starve to death.

Don’t think I’ll be able to make this one.

We’ve got beef and lamb planned that day for 16:30 hours and they’re my favourites. Also got white cabbage.

If that was in response to my post it isn't a case of not being able to have my Sunday roast but because we've arranged Sunday lunch with friends we've not seen for a while and the 5th was the only date we could all make it this side of Xmas. I was going to go if it were on the Saturday but now can't on the Sunday. The kick off time doesn't help either especially as I doubt the Club will run Valley Express as normal for home games.

Hate to say it but I agree. Some of our fans really don’t do us any favours sometimes.
