swordfish said:Why they scheduled the women's test 1st rather than having it as a potentially exciting series decider is a mystery to me. If England's women lose the T20 tonight, they'd have win all other 5 games. England lost toss bat first.Wyatt out.0

Duckett gets to his second 50 of the match0

Duckett gone somehow for 50
Overturned! Starc used the ground to secure the catch!0 -
Australians are perplexed0
-
I don't know if that should have been out or not.
I don't know the law sufficiently.0 -

3rd ump says he made the decision to overturn because he felt Starc wasn’t in complete control of his body when the catch was made.0

I don't know the law sufficiently. The act of making a catch shall start from the time when the ball first comes into contact with a fielder’s person and shall end when a fielder obtains complete control over both the ball and his/her own movement.
(He was still moving, sliding along the ground, when the ball was on the ground, in his hand).
Not out2 -

Stumps day four.

Duckett 50 (67)

England need 257 runs. Australia need 6 wickets.0 -
Yes I agree, by the law that's not out.0

Rishi Sunak was at Lord's today, and indeed was the lunchtime guest on TMS.
Worth noting his previous sporting track record, as he was at Southampton the day they got relegated, so today has been a relative success...4 -

He scraped the ball along the floor, how do you ever think that's a clean catch?!1 -
I thought it was only Football that had problems with video technology 🤦🏻♂️
I'm pleased for the wee man who had played well and then plays a really bad shot.
Can I say why I was so gutted that Ben Duckett was out for 98 in the first innings ?
Gutted for Ben as he won't be on the honours board at Lord's (unless his luck holds in 2nd inns)
Gutted for me as I had to delete 'the drinks are on Jimmy Anderson this evening'0 -
Bazball? More like bollocks ball!0

Is this performance showing Stokes isn't the right man to lead England, as he clearly can't see our style of cricket won't work against the better teams and particularly Australia?0

Bang on its hard to see who would get into their team from our squad, Root perhaps. Warner showed the way yesterday when he opened the second innings, ok he had a bit of luck but you buy that.
Think it will be wrapped up by lunch tomorrow. Aussies are just too good for us, yet we have had good spells in both tests and should have won the first but good teams find a way, they can almost bat all through their team.

But when you come up against the likes of Australia it starts to look very suspect.
I'm becoming more and more of the opinion that Root aside, this country cannot produce test batsmen anymore. And for that reason, McCullum has came in and just said play the way you're good at. It's literally all we've got!
The tactic is forced by the quality of the options available for selection.
Yes this is looking increasingly likely that this isn’t enough to beat the Aussies. But the alternative is throwing Hameed et al back out there and scoring 150s in the first innings…
Australia have better batsmen (#1, #2, #3 in the world), they have bowlers who aren’t past their prime and they’re better in the field. We all hoped the Bazball bravado could bring us up to, and past, their level but in reality, the expected result is what is being played out.
I cannot blame England for believing their own hype. The cricket so far has been exciting, and winning games at the same time. Why wouldn’t they try to take that same approach into this series?
And as usual the troll that is @chizz LOLs it. As I've said before he loves to target certain people by doing so and then pleads his innocence for being accused of being a wind up merchant. In fact, I have to thank him for continuing to bridge the gap between my "Likes" and "LOLs". I bet he even thinks he's being subtle and clever doing so.

Have I ever told you how much I rate Marais Erasmus?I actually think he favoured us at Edgbaston.1

I don't understand why there's so much debate on TMS, social media etc about that Starc 'catch'. In the process of the dive to catch it, he's put the ball on rhe ground? How would that ever be out?!6
