I've never been convinced by this bazball bollocks
It's just another "we've got one plan/one idea and we're sticking to it regardless of conditions, personnel, match situation" or in summary a lazy cop out in lieu of professionalism or application
E.g. denying the draw as a valid test match result is just childish nonsense
The relentless spiel about "entertainment" is just as much hollow bullshit too - this England 'performance' is only entertaining if you're a pom hating aussie who doesn't actually know or care much about cricket. Australia are a man down and they're still being handed the series on a plate.
Cruising along on a dead pitch on a perfect batting day then throwing away 3 wickets in preposterous fashion isn't sticking to a plan it's refusing to do your job properly it's only half a step away from throwing the match - or cheating as it's also known
While I'm on a roll - a one legged non-bowling Stokes ain't even nearly worth a place in the squad, his batting form has deserted him and there's never room for passengers against the world test champions3 -
Proper test cricket from the Aussies - good to see1

Right onto the Aussie bashing, to lift the mood.... I have to say there isn't many if any of their side who i actually like, bring back Warne, he was a loveable wanker1
-
The other thing that we probably didn't factor in is the added pace that the Aussies attack offer. Pulling or hooking a ball at 90mph is totally different to doing so at 80mph. The difference doesn't sound much but it is massive especially when you are not used to doing so out in the middle with the potentially variable bounce.2

Need to be a maximum of about 50 in arrears here.0

100% agree.
The Aussies were bereft of ideas on a good wicket when we were only 1 wicket down and then later after 'Gary' was injured that's when we had to use some nous. You soon run out of energy if the batsmen duck for half a dozen overs especially with your top spinner down.1 -

The bowlers especially seem pretty decent and likeable, Cummins comes across very well.

Frustrating thing is there's been a lot of progress under Stokes and McCullum, obviously.
This time a year ago we were playing India with Burns, Hameed, Overton etc, we looked scared of everything.
"Bazball" has been good in the main. But now we've got that confidence back etc, be positive but sensible. Get yourself in then go. Play the situation.
We've had all the luck in these two Tests - winning the tosses, bowling and batting in the best conditions bar about half an hour after rain at Edgbaston, Lyon getting injured. And we're throwing that away.

It is ironic that it's England's Positivity -"go harder" that has helped Australia in their pursuit of the Ashes.1 -

England players never got out playing silly shots before Bazball?2

LOL! You don't need a spinner if your quicks run through the oppo!0 -
Have a look at these scorecards. Anyone recognise the similarities?

They are, of course, our players' scores from our 2nd innings in the First Test and those of our current innings. So many players getting in but failing to convert. Content with being in for a good time and not worried about the consequences of getting out.

And another one down. We’ve only lost one wicket to a decent delivery so far. It’s criminal really.1
-
Not sure i've seen England lose 7 wickets and not 1 of them is to a good ball2
-
We should declare before lunch.3

that's the kind of rubbish bairstow played before he got dropped. Awful.1
-
I think we are now seeing why Starc was picked ahead of Boland. The extra pace and different challenge of a left armer when conditions haven't been ideal for a swing bowler.1
-
Need to get to 350 bare minimum.
380 is acceptable.
400 would be lovely.0 -

They certainly did at times but think of it as Jeopardy.
No problems with taking on the Aussies but it became slogging when the short pitched stuff arrived other than Kent's own running down the wicket emulating Joe in the first test.

When was the last time we did a Golfie in the Ashes ? ie, lose the first Test and then go on to win the Ashes.0

How many of the Australians got out from good bowling? Remember they lost 7 for 70 odd yesterday.
Bazball isn't the reason for poor execution which is the reason for at least 3 of our wickets.2 -

Since the series started, we've had the rub of the green and have blown it once, now we're looking likely to have done so again.0 -
