Yes, it's been a whole three days without a signing...charlton_hero said:It's feeling like a typical Sandgaard summer so far.13 -
It would be a very Saandgard thing to do to say don't worry we will still continue recruitment as normal then sign nobody, the fact the two players who were offered contracts still havent signed and most of the ones released have found new clubs already also not great, sorry bed wetting already

Just like Ipswich last year.Oh Eddie Youds... said:5th signing of the week for Pompey.
Them & Oxford (who have brought in 3) definitely looking to get their squad sorted early.
Funny how getting your squad assembled before the season starts brings dividends.14 -
Will Galllen poach all the players he's lined up for us.
Hope so.27 -
The same Ipswich who had signed three players by the end of June, compared to Charlton who had signed four players in the same time period?golfaddick said:

We also made just two signings after the season started
Ipswich signed four players after the season began
Our squad as a whole was still left badly short last season - But lets not pretend Ipswich had made all theirs signings before they all reported for Pre-Season13 -
The one thing that is starting to concern me is the Alfie May saga. Lots of itk and rumour that we’ve bid, had it accepted and he wants to come but days into it he still hasn’t signed. I’ll assume he hasn’t had a medical. Can see this one going tits up and that’s not a good start to our recruitment.9

We’re surely not dithering again….like the last three/four/five seasons?ShootersHillGuru said:The one thing that is starting to concern me is the Alfie May saga. It’ll be criminal if the transfer mess of the last few summers is repeated again in this one.0 -
Any dithering and dallying in this window is down to one man again ,...Thomas, not that he could give a stuff about us now, but the delay in getting the SPA sorted couldn't have come at a worse time, almost like it was planned🤔... result another window just passes us by...will we ever see peace and quiet break out at Charlton Athletic and some normality resume, 'bout bloody time if you ask me...too long overdue.9

The one thing we didnt do in the Chris Powell title winning season was dither about signing players, got the majority of our business done early and the rest was history. It's never happened for us since and cant see it changing all the while TS is in charge4

Innis joined Forest Green. Big Dunc and Innis...gonna be some brawling 😂4

Hollands, Sullivan and Pritchard signed late May but the bulk of Powell’s signings that summer joined June/early July. After the first three the next signings came in on 21 June.Redvalleyeast said:The one thing we didnt do in the Chris Powell title winning season was dither about signing players, got the majority of our business done early and the rest was history. Are we the only club who don’t sign players before the window opens?redbuttle said:

Gallen has brought a crock of shit to this club, no doubt hugely affected by budget constraints, interference by incompetents and other negative influences.
If he goes and we replace him with better, dandy. But what chance of that.

Bit harsh on Gallen when we dont know for sure what he was responsible for. I think its highly likely that his friendship with Freedman at Palace was the reason JRS came on loan to usSix-a-bag-of-nuts said:Gallen has brought a crock of shit to this club, no doubt hugely affected by budget constraints, interference by incompetents and other negative influences.

I thought Steve Gallen left two seasons ago??5

Was good few years back but it looks very desperate if I was a Pompey fan bringing in very average players at the moment ..AFKABartram said:

Consistently scores at approx 1 in 3 rate at this level. I'd love to have more players as "average" as that.RonnieMoore said:

I’m telling thee, the biggest meltdown ever if Alfie May pops up holding another teams shirt. And deserved too.7

Pompey making 5 signings in 3 days feels like a club making a fresh start under a new manager and Mousinho clearing out a lot of the players from the Cowleys. I'd be very surprised if they weren't around the playoffs.2

Pompey have been building for over a year (having brought in Bishop, Lowery, Morrell etc last season) & now have a strong front 3 having just paid fees for both Saydee & Scully:
Scully - scores 1 in 3
Bishop - scores 1 in 2
Saydee - scored 1 in 3 at Shrewsbury last season
The player I think they will miss & I would love to see us go for though is Owen Dale. He’s a class act but I assume he has gone back to Blackpool since his loan ended.

Our recruitment sounds a shambles. Martin still involved, Gallen involved but on the verge of leaving and TS still the owner but in the middle of leaving.clive said:16 -

Unfortunately it appears that we are facing the perfect storm where incoming transfers are concerned. For the time being at least, it has the feel of shopping in Poundland.4

Fleetwood Dack?DA9 said:Bradley Dack is joining FleetwoodThey’ve told him you can Go Your Own Way17 -
I was beginning to be sucked in to the optimism that we had a very decent budget and recruitment was advanced and going well, players shown around Sparrows, but the fact that we’ve not signed anyone including our top target (?) Alfie May who is reported as actually wanting to come with fee agreed with his club is starting to ring alarm bells. The are of course any number of reasons why we’re having problems but you can’t get past the idea that we don’t have the money or aren’t offering enough to attract the players we want. Not completely freaked out yet but concerned.Redvalleyeast said:The one thing we didnt do in the Chris Powell title winning season was dither about signing players, got the majority of our business done early and the rest was history.
