Players not been paid, again.0

Wigan Athletic directors Tom Markham and Oliver Gottmann have resigned amid growing concerns about the financial state of the League One club.
Markham and Gottman said funds "promised by the ownership group" that were due to be paid by 2 June have still not materialised.
The statement said "with no visibility of when funds will arrive", Markham and Gottman's position was untenable.

I think theyre going out of business.2

You have to feel for the fans as once again they seem to be facing another slide downwards, that's if they even manage to survive3

Agreed. I was sure they would last time and thought they got incredibly lucky. Small town in the shadows of much larger clubs and with football as its second sport. Their stadium is likely too big for anything they will need again and their fan base is tiny. There really is no logical reason to buy them. Even reformed as a phoenix club they would do tremendously well to get back into the league. Hope for their fans sake they make it.
In the last 25 yrs I think only them, Pompey and Leicester have won the FA Cup outside of the boring top 6.0 -
A statement from the ownership group:
A deal has been agreed in principle for the sale of Wigan Athletic Football Club to a prospective new buyer - subject to EFL approval.
The prospective new owners have committed to resolving all outstanding liabilities at the earliest opportunity.
Further updates on this process will follow in due course.

"However, on Friday, supporters’ groups had called for the ownership group to put Wigan up for sale due to fears over the future of the club."
Then yesterday there was an announcement saying a sale has been agreed.2 -

Something definitely doesn't sound right about this. Sudden takeover deals out of nowhere with no named new owner just sounds dodgy.1

I suspect that Wigan are very far from being out of trouble yet.3 -

Seems like they are in for a bumpy ride - this guy has been trying to buy Morecambe for months and hasn't provided proof of funds.1 -

I’m never one to rub salt in when another club is struggling BUT I hope those Wigan fans laughing at Boltons demise and acting the big I am when they were signing every player going on big money, are reflecting and enjoying that slice of humble pie.The EFL are to blame but I’m guessing these guys provided proof of funds like Thomas did, they took over around the same time? They’ve obviously switched the tap off and stopped paying into the empty black hole that is English football. Say what you want about Thomas, he’s continued to pay the bills and isn’t a charlatan, we could be alot worse off! And that’s saying something.9
-
Sounds like one of the co-owners of the Wigan Warriors wants to do a deal
1 -
Didnt the Wigan Warriors owner want to buy them around the same time as the Bahraini?0
-
Wasn’t long ago we were wondering how they got lucky with a wealthy ambitious ownership and we got TS.
