Well played Duckett, but I'd fancy Kent to knock 500 against this attack
I wouldn't on the current form of Kent

I would, that's how easy it is.
But our best batsman, by definition because he plays for England, was out for 56. I was being ironic though when I said that "I wouldn't fancy us" in the same way as I was being ironic in saying that Crawley is our best batsman. Compton, against this attack, would still be batting on the 4th day given the opportunity.

I bet, if it wasn't so wrong morally to do so, we would like to retire the likes of Duckett if he were to get to say 200, so that others could have some meaningful time in the middle

This is grotesque and frankly pointless

Pope isn't actually playing that well, and he's still reached 76*

Ireland have just bowled their 500th over in Tests, this century.  By contrast, England's current eleven have bowled more than 5,500 between them.

England going at over 6 an over, yet without scoring a 6 until they had nearly 350 on the board.

It's a glorified net really and not the ideal prep for an Ashes series especially if numbers 4-7 don't end up getting much of a bat

Do the old reverse the batting order in the 2nd innings. If we even need one

We'll have to bowl very, very badly before that happens.

Don't think we are learning much from this.

Someone mentioned Essex player Das earlier, seeing him tonight in the blast if he plays, looking good so far.

Has a test match ever been decided by umpire stoppage?

Never seen such a good chance for a tema to score 1000 in a Test. In a way though it'll be a disgrace if they go for it

First time England have seen the first three partnerships of an innings reach three figures since 1985.

    This.

    Australia are playing India

    England are playing Ireland.

One team is going to be undercooked on June 16th.

    This.

Might be taking the piss a bit but then that's down to the powers that be that organised this beer match.

Love a couple of retired hurts & Brook, Bairstow and Stokes come out & try to set some new records.

Ireland warmed up with a match against basically an Essex 2nd XII

This is like the boring middle overs in a 50 over match, where there are easy singles available everywhere, and both teams seem happy with it.

presumably the Ireland test was intended to give Irish cricket some credibility, a big boost to show it is a viable test playing nation .. fact is it's done the opposite
