Arsenal this season will go down as one of the biggest bottle jobs of the modern era.1

Should make for a good summer transfer window tho!0

I do find the Arsenal bottle comment a bit disrespectful to City who are the best club side to play in England. 11 league wins in a row. 12 in last 13 including beating Arsenal twice. No side in English history comfortably wins 15+ matches in a row every season. To finish above City you need to be getting 90+ points minimum8

I had a look at the table for 1998/99, the Man U treble season, and they won the PL with 79 points, 2 fewer than Arsenal have now.1 - Sponsored links:

They then drew three in a row, handing the initiative to City, who then, by way of exchange, handed them back their arses on a silver platter. Now they’ve been given a bare-arse spanking by a team that got mullered 5-1 at home last week by a team threatened by relegation. So no. There’s no disrespect for Man City here. Just for Arsenal.3

Yeah it comes more from the fact Arsenal had something like 43 points at a stage, which was the most in Prem history. So the title was in their hands and they bottled it. That’s taking nothing away from City.
I think City will break points and goals records next season.0 -

Heard last week that Pochettino had already made a phone call to Romelu Lukaku to say he wants him back at Chelsea as his central striker after his loan in Milan. Came from an excellent source.0 -

Chelsea's have the most expensive squad in the PL that cost £124m more than City's. They also have the home grown talents of Mount, Loftus-Cheek, Gallagher, Chalobah, James and Hall. Chelsea have 43 points. City have almost double that with 85 points. Pochettino is fortunate to have such a squad and low base to start from given that they will finish in the bottom half of the table this season.0

United and Chelsea will be much better, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool will also strengthen. Of course City will strengthen too but i can't see them winning 32-33 games next season given those other sides 'should' be much better.

Chelsea have 75 points, if they win their last three the most they could get is 84 points.0 -

Ok fair enough I didn't look at City's points.0

Arsenal ran out of puff but the one player they have missed is Saliba. With him in the side for 27 games, they took 66 points or an average of 2.44 points per a game. Without him they have taken 15 from 9 matches or 1.67 points per game. That is the difference between being on their current 81 points and on 88 points and level with City. Still no guarantee that Arsenal would have won the PL with him for the duration but they certainly would have had a decent chance.5

Man City have rigged the league with financial doping. Unless you're winning 38 games you aren't beating them to the league anymore.1 -
I know many are enjoying Arsenal's implosion but I'd have much rather them win it that City turn the Premier league into a version of the Bundesliga. The fact Arsenal have pushed them this close means City will probably buy a few more exceptional players to ensure it doesn't happen again next season.1

430m less than Chelsea
315m less than Man U
260m less than Arsenal
110m less than Spurs
And even less than Wolves and West Ham.
Obviously no one can deny they have a lot of money, but it's lazy to just say they win because of this especially when other clubs spend more. Man U since Fergie left are clear proof that spending money doesn't equal success. City's management structure is first class and their hit rate for signings is far higher than other top clubs.3 -
City have been charged by the Premier League over FFP, something ongoing, so it's not unreasonable to question their probity.

Financial doping built their foundations and now they're reaping the benefits (with less cost) because of all the capital expenditure they put in when they first took over.
Their ownership has 'invested' £1.8 billion into the club since the takeover, and that's not including their sponsorship deals with inflated values to help them meet profit/loss limits.0 -
Still believe Arsenal have over achieved this season. I had City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal with Chelsea 5th which I thought was bold ! and Spurs 6th.
Even when Arsenal were 11 points clear and city had a game in hand I fancied City by a couple of points. 8 point gap when Man city played the same games and down to 5 If/when Pep win at home against the Ex south London club. It came to fruition as Arsenal saw the winning post, they faltered.
The pressure got to Arsenal similar to Newcastle, under Keegan.
My Bottom 3 was Bournemouth 20th,
Leeds 19th and Forest 18th.
Bizarrely it could still be Leicester and Everton going down with the Saints and I definitely didn't see that scenario.

Highlight of the season for me Arsenal not winning the league, given me great pleasure that.
Not sure about bottling it though , seasons over 38 games.
Sure it happens once in a blue moon but you've got to have players who've been there done that.
Foden at 23 will have 5 premiership titles under his belt.
Just checked on betfair and Arsenal's odds didn't get shorter than 1/2.
Arsenal could have another 6 points on the board at this moment and I'd still fancy city to win the league.0
