    Mallik Wilkes would be lightyears ahead of signing someone like Stockton.

    I called early in the window he was the one I wanted. I really can’t see it happening though, it’s the hope that kills.

    Wilks would be a fantastic signing but I'd be surprised if he moved south.

    Imagine a fluid attacking front 3 of JRS*, CBT and Wilks. 

    Would be very much like MK Dons Parrot, Twine and Eisa front 3 last year. Just potentially even better. 

    *If JRS turns out to be any good.

    He can play out wide and as a striker. 
    More importantly he scores goals.

    Gulp, that’s it, if they can’t afford to keep Olly then we ain’t getting no striker. Garner could be a hero and squeak us into the play offs. I’m usually optimistic but this is not looking good.

    Need more info or where this has been heard. From Garners comments yesterday to Wilkes on a Permanent in 24 hours is in the ridiculous even for Charlton standards.

    Unless of course this is a return to the bad old days when the manager was the last person to hear about any signings.

    I don't think it's true, I hope it's baseless from me but in the light of recent events my cynicism is ramping right up.

    I really am not reading anything into Garner's comments. Saying you're desperate for players just increases their price. I'd be absolutely stunned if we sign no one else before September.

    Chris Powell was a master at that. Once he fielded a question about Ricardo Fuller saying he didn’t realise that he was available and he would look into it.24 hours later he signed.

    A lot of people took his comment to mean we're not signing anyone. He actually said we wouldn't sign a striker 'unless things move or change'. Well shock horror, things do move and change daily in football.
