My Dad isn't on any forums and he thinks the weak link in our play is Stockley, I am on the forums and think the same. One of my friends who isn't a Charlton fan but came with me to the Swansea friendly commented that "your striker isn't very good is he?" when he miscontrolled the ball for the third time in the box, breaking down a decent passage of play yet again.
Look, I don't think he's as bad as some make out, and last season he proved he can score goals, but last season we played a very different style of football, and unless something clicks soon, he's going to start to cop a lot more flack if he doesn't start scoring, because he's the focal point of the team and the attack
Thirteen league goals last season (and yes, he was out injured for a time), but if there was a clip reel showing all his goals I think it’d show that very few were ‘value added’.
In other words, he didn’t outsprint a defender, or turn a marker inside out, or beat the keeper by finding the top corner or by the power of his shot etc. Those are the sort of goals you get from a really decent striker. Maybe one or two goals were decent, but it’s a relatively small percentage.
Yes, all goals count, including the tap-ins, but I don’t think he’ll get many on top of those, which isn’t what we need right now.
If we got an offer for Stockley do you think Garner would be tempted to go for someone else? Feels like he is the first name on the team sheet if he’s been made captain.
I think we would sell regardless of him being captain.
We were interested in talking to Sheff Weds about him in the summer. We just rightly will not let him go for peanuts.
Garner mentioned at the weekend that we have players lined up for every position as you never know what may happen.
I don’t see Stockley leaving this window but that’s mainly because no-one will pay what we would want rather than us thinking it is critical to keep him.
I can tell you it won't happen seeing as the club has just sacked Olly Groome to save a few pennies.
Gulp, that’s it, if they can’t afford to keep Olly then we ain’t getting no striker. Garner could be a hero and squeak us into the play offs. I’m usually optimistic but this is not looking good.
Need more info or where this has been heard. From Garners comments yesterday to Wilkes on a Permanent in 24 hours is in the ridiculous even for Charlton standards.

Has he played a striker before just out of interest? I know he is a winger by trade.
Really hope this has legs as he's a player I've wanted us to sign for about 3 years!

Only 23, still improving.
WHY ARE PEOPLE POSTING RUMOURS?
I called early in the window he was the one I wanted. I really can’t see it happening though, it’s the hope that kills.
Genuine, Attention seeking just pouring petrol?
WE NEED A STRIKER
More importantly he scores goals.
