Think you might be on your own there, thought she was awful.AFKABartram said:
I thought she was good!Sillybilly said:That Celeste rendition of wonderful world is an act of desecration. Bloody hell. Even the (c)rap bit earlier was more tuneful.1 -
What time are we leaving?ricky_otto said:
You can take my place and go with Mrs Otto to see her in Manchester next Saturday if you like?!?!?!?LargeAddick said:Love Alicia Keys, one of my all time favourites.0 -
Diana Ross sounds amazing. Wasn't expecting that when she was helped onto the stage0
-
She’s obviously miming. Don’t blame her at 80 odd.AllHailTheHen said:Diana Ross sounds amazing. Wasn't expecting that when she was helped onto the stage
Very few camera close ups and she just shouted and nothing came out of the mic.6 -
Yeah, I thought exactly the same.WSS said:

I think she is singing. She is supposedly 78.0

If she isn’t taking a penalty during her performance I’m not interested.AllHailTheHen said:Diana Ross sounds amazing. Wasn't expecting that when she was helped onto the stage5 -
So do I, but the mic is off and it’s “Diana Ross’ Greatest Hits” coming out of the speakers.MeebaumAzanitch said:I think she is singing. She is supposedly 78.1 -
Weather was great in the end and we had a cracking day. Lovely atmosphere and great to catch up with mum’s neighbours, some of which I’ve known since I was a kid.DaveMehmet said:Street party at my mum’s in Sidcup tomorrow. Weather looks crap unfortunately, road behind us is having theirs today and they’ve got a female singer belting out soul classics, sounds like fun.3 -
Yeah that ending confirmed it!WSS said:

Oh. That's that then0
-
I was really concerned for her getting down those stairs0
-
Her mic was on but she wasn’t singing0

The only two acts who I thought were miming all evening were Diana Ross (obviously) and Sam Ryder (less obviously but to me he was). A compelling nights viewing even if all the acts were not to my taste (inevitably). Brilliantly staged and went off with only the merest of hitches. Shudder to think how much it all cost.0

I think the boost to the economy and feelgood factor of the past few days is priceless.Sillybilly said:The only two acts who I thought were miming all evening were Diana Ross (obviously) and Sam Ryder (less obviously but to me he was). Never normally sit down and watch those concerts but really enjoyed what I saw. Never going to please everyone with different genres of music. Paddington Bear with Her Majesty, and the drones in the sky were the best part for me.

Thought it was amazing even if some of the acts were a little rusty. No other country in the world could pull that off. Been a fantastic few days and some light relief from the last few years of purgatory.

On reflection maybe as well that they kept the oldies to a minimum after Rod and Diana’s offerings.Gribbo said:
Tbh, reckon it would be better to give bigger sets to the olduns Queen / Elton John / Diana Ross etc, but do agree about the organisation thoughSillybilly said:
I thought the exact opposite to be honest. Enjoyed diversity but can’t stand Craig David. Helluva difficult thing to get through something like this and suit all tastes though. I’m just admiring the whole organisation of it all!Gribbo said:One way to kill a concert atmos. Bring Diversity on.
Craig David clawing it back though0 -
Yes. Me too. I wasn’t complaining. Just imagining how much it all cost as it was clearly an epic production. I suspect there was a lot of corporate sponsorship.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:

I wondered why he was miming. Definitely Diana Ross was. Why have her if she can't sing? And I thought the girl early on in the yellow I think it was.Sillybilly said:The only two acts who I thought were miming all evening were Diana Ross (obviously) and Sam Ryder (less obviously but to me he was). Amazing to organise it, but I'd have had different acts; and would be interested in Lifers suggestions - maybe just one from the US and 1 from each of the major rest of 5 Eyes who are Commonwealth plus maybe SA and a couple from Europe0 -
What a brilliant few days. Her Maj pulling out a marmalade sandwich and spoon tapping to We Will Rock You was just fantastic

She was singing, but so were loads of backing singers. Not really a fan of many of the acts on display, but it was a technical masterclass by the BBC.Woke Media & the Arts flying the flag.0
