Did a bad job at Derby and a worse one at Chelsea.
Strengthened with players like Mason Mount, Harry Wilson and Tomori.
Chelsea basically gave him their best youth players for the season.
Still finished 20 points behind 1st and got into the playoffs by one point. No progression at all.
I'm not saying Lampard is a great manager, and he got the Chelsea job being a legend and is fortunate to have got the Everton job. But saying he did a "bad" job is bollocks. Out of interest, did they progress and finish higher than 6th after he left?
They beat a Leeds side that sunk like a stone in the second half of the season after being top at christmas. Then got beat handily by Villa.
He is one of the main reasons Derby are in the position they're in now.3 -
I am sure most at the time of Lampards sacking for Chelsea, thought it was a bit harsh. He done a fantastic job, also using alot of youngsters in the process.
I don't really agree he is a bad manager, Everton is such a mess its a tough job for anyone to go in there. I think they will be ok personally but they are certainly in the relegation battle, but it relies on Norwich/Brentford & Watford picking up points, which i am more confident they wont than Everton going down.0 -

Leeds didn't sink like a stone. They blew promotion in the last couple of weeks of the season and finished 3rd. Derby got handily narrowly beaten 2-1 by Villa in the final.
Derby are in the position they're in because of years of over spending, certainly not because of Lampard.3 -

Worth remembering that Derby signed Bielik the summer after Lampard left for Chelsea... £8m was it? - They also brought Wayne Rooney in from DC United that January, which wouldn't have been cheap, as they had to sign him as a Player / Coach to get around FFP rules.
But Mel Morris was throwing transfer money around long before Lampard showed up.
£8m for Vydra in 2016/17
£24.5m got spent on players in 2015/16, which was Mel's first year at the club.

I was really surprised how poor Everton were last night.
Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison are usually a handful agaibst us but Dier, Romero and Davies didnt give them a kick.
Was also shocked how timid Dele looked when he came on. At one point, Bentacur with the ball had a slight change of pace and left Dele in his wake. Dele was always fit but he looked well off the pace. So sad to see his downfall.

What do you think the reason behind his downfall. Ali seems to be in a similar position to Rashford. Ali is 25 years old, Rashford is 24. But both seem on the decline rather than hitting their peak. Both had a lot of success at a young age but have not had any form for last 18 months?0

He used to run his absolute bollocks off, then he got a hamstring problem and he never ever put the same amount of effort in. Poch, Mourinho, Nuno and Conte all called him out but he never changes. It was like a switch in his head had been turned off. It doesnt help he plays his best in behind Kane and then the shape changes but they. Hopefully Fat Frank can reignite him.0 -
After Burnley lost 4-0 on Saturday, I had been thinking that that was bad news for their previously decent GD.
Until Everton go and lose 5-0! Everton's GD is 4 worse than Burnley's now, which could be crucial, though Leeds have by far the worst GD out of the strugglers, other than Norwich0 -

I've probably said this a million times before but someone like Jamie Vardy has never lost the hunger and always puts himself about even when the goals have dried up. Because he didn't have it easy, was dropped by Wednesday and had to work in a factory. Dele thinks he has the hunger but he doesn't and is coasting as are quite a few Everton and United players. Klopp and Pep have some fantastic players at their disposal but when do you ever see the likes of Salah stand around? Four hours on a bus to training and the same back every day as a kid, getting back in the early hours of a morning, five days a week, is quite an apprenticeship.

Everton are in a mess and Lampard as yet hasn't got them playing for him .. relegation is a distinct possibility and that would surely put the skids under any new stadium plans .. under John Moores, the mega rich Littlewoods pools and shops owner, Everton were known in the 60s and 70s as the 'millionaire club' .. long since overtaken by the likes of Citeeee, Chelski and Unitteddd and newcomers Newkassel, Everton now have the issue of one of their benefactors being blacklisted over the Ukraine invasion .. worrying times as millions have been ill spent on unsuitable players in very recent times
On the playing side, Lampard has appointed his old Chelski team mucker Ashley Cole as a first team coach and has signed Dele Alli from Spurs .. with appointments like this, little wonder that the Toffees are in a right sticky mess . Lampard needs to get a grip .. and quickly0 -

Too many of their players are coasting, the defence is poor, DCL and Richarlison are getting no real service, as well as the fact they probably both know if Everton go down they won't be there next season anyway.0 -

They're defence is pretty poor. Holgate, Keane, Coleman, Kenny all wouldn't look out of place in the Championship. Sadly i think they'll just about stay up, but thats more to do with how poor Watford/Norwich/Burnley are1 -

A direct comparable to Dele, rather than say Vardy or Salah, might, might perhaps be Jarrod Bowen. They are both 25 bit have had very different paths to where they are now. Dele made his Spurs debut at 19. Having been rejected by both Villa and Cardiff, Bowen had been playing in the Conference for Hereford when Hull picked him up. It wasn't until he was 23 that West Ham signed him and you can see that he has the hunger and fire in his belly.
That four years in terms of their respective development as all round footballers is immense. Dele simply doesn't have that because he got that success very early and played in systems that suited him and his skillset. He's actually one of those players who, when he goes to close down a player, it looks totally foreign to him and it's almost an after thought for him to do so. Whereas Bowen is a livewire and always on the go who does all the hard yards as well as the more tangible bits - 16 PL goals and 13 assists for West Ham in the time that Dele has achieved one goal and one assist. That is a criminal waste of Dele's talent and his clubs' money.
Again, I'm using Dele as an example of what can happen but he does remind me of the 18 year old that his then Manager, Steve Coppell, had a go at for lack of effort "have you seen my wage slip and the car I drive?". Dele is certainly not the only example of that in the Everton and United sides but a lot of those will find their form once again. I'm really not sure Dele will unless it's in a relegated Everton team because he is a throw back to the days of "luxury" players. There are very few that can afford to be that now especially at the highest level.
As the father of someone who is trying to make his way in another sport, probably one of the only bits of meaningful advice I've ever given to my son is this. No sportsman has ever been successful in everything they've done and all will have had big lows from time to time. But if you can look yourself in the mirror after every training session and after every match and say that you've given absolutely your all then that is all you can do. But if you can't, then you are cheating - your teammates, your coaches, your supporters, your family and friends. But the one you are cheating the most is yourself. Perhaps when Dele and others do that they can live with themselves and think nothing about taking the money under false pretences. I suspect though that he might wake up to the reality when it is all too late.0 -

I still think they'll be ok though, their games with Brentford, Newcastle, Burnley and Watford will obviously be key but if they don't get many points from those, then they'll be nailed on to go down.0 -

Leeds look toothless without a striker up top.
I feel like a settled team is doing wonders for Villa, playing some good stuff.0 -
Leeds look even worse under this new guy than they did with Bielsa.1

Some shocking results for the strugglers, especially Watford and Leeds who were both against mid table teams and got well beaten0

I for one am really going to miss Bielsa, for a while there Leeds were a pleasure to watch.
Now I can revert to my default position of always wishing the worst for them.
Hope they go down.1 -
Watching Brentford v Burnley is painful to the eye. Feels like I'm watching a Championship match.

Ronaldo is an absolute legend isn't he. Under quite a lot of pressure pre-game. Scores a worldie and now looking for a hat-trick.1
-
The way the teams below them are playing, the 30 points Brentford have almost make them safe already0
-
It really doesn't get any better for Maguire does it!!!0
-
Sky have just pointed out that OGs, with 9 goals, are Spurs' 3rd top scorer - if we had been the beneficiary of that many, then OGs would have been our joint top scorer!1
