Given Newcastle are unbeaten in 8, it makes me wonder how Eddie Howe was not clamoured for by multiple PL teams since he left Bournemouth. He brought up and kept up for years a club with a stadium that holds 11,000 people.1

Newcastle's solidity has surprised me. Howe played attacking football at Bournemouth, but his teams weren't that strong defensively

It's going to be close but i feel for Liverpool to win it they're going to pretty much have to win all of their remaining games, which includes Man City away. That'd give them 96 points. Ruben Dias is now out injured for 4-6 weeks though, so that's a big loss for City.1 -

I know I'm in the minority, but I actually find the demise of Man Utd quite sad. They were the best team in the country by a long way for 2 decades.

It's been a shame to see the Glazers leech off of them for years, they're basically being made less than the sum of their parts through dividends and loan repayments going out, incompetent CEOs and transfer decisions (sound familiar?).
Somehow the fact it's been poor ownership does strike a chord a bit.
And I don't mind them as much as Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal.
But then I see where we and a lot of other clubs are and remember it's not that bad for them really!0 -

United were the team that first started to monetarise (sorry don't like the word but it's the most accurate I can think of) football. They are probably more to blame than anyone else in football for the game now being dominated by money.
United were the team who pushed hardest for home teams to keep all the gate receipts. That changed football for ever and with the wealth this gave them they proceeded to buy all the best players. Indeed, they thought it was their right to take any player they wanted.
No arguing that Ferguson was a great manager but blimey he twisted the rules and bullied officials to make sure United got every advantage. And during that spell when United won everything, their supporters were unbearable. Absolutely unbearable.
And now other teams have got even greater funding than United, and they can't buy whoever they want, I find games like this afternoons really enjoyable when United - copyright the biggest club in the world - get absolutely and utterly humiliated by their closest rival. It makes up for all those years when they won everything and their fans went on, and on, and on ...
Anyway, don't be too upset for United. No doubt they will go and buy another 2 or 3 players for £100 million plus in the summer. Whilst Johnnie Jackson picks up 3 free transfers and 6 loan signings. Trust me, not a single United fan will feel sorry for us.3 -

For me, City and more importantly Pep have actually continued to develop every single season. It’s not like they go out and buy the the “superstars” like Chelsea, United etc do. to try and remain a dominating force. Look at Cancelo, Rodri, Mahrez, Stones, Laporte; the list goes on. Every year Pep seems to get improvement out of them. This year, they seemed to have hit a height no English team has ever hit and they’ve had to or Liverpool would be ahead of them.Athletico Charlton said:Not sorry for UTD. I don't disagree. I just get bored with one team winning everything. 3 of the last 4 league titles. 4 of the last 5 league cups. The FA Cup is the only thing that has escaped their complete dominance.Andyessgee90 said:

Best bit of the Premier League this week was Brandon Williams being fouled by Eriksen. For half a second he was angry, realised who it was and just gave him a cuddle instead.2

Whilst the money the Glazers have taken out of the club is well documented, they've still spent a fortune. A lot of their problems lie with just how badly United have spent their money. Then there is Ronaldo. Obviously I can see why they went and got him, he's a club icon and they didn't want him going to City, but United came 2nd last season playing a certain way, fast, counter attacking football, were unbeaten away from home as well. He's far from the problem, but it's obvious he doesn't fit the way they play. You'd have thought they'd learnt their lesson after snatching Alexis Sanchez away from City.
