Haven't felt so negative about our team for a very long time as I did after the final whistle yesterday. Sunderland must be rubbing their hands together at the prospect of beating their nemesis next Saturday.

The heart seems to have disappeared from our lads. And it's extremely hard to admit that. 

If only it was as "simple" as getting a couple of our walking wounded back ....but worryingly, I feel the malaise goes deeper. 

Normally, I love away days with our group & it's never been totally about the football. 

But, after Wimbledon, it's going to take more than the wine, the camaraderie & the laughs to tempt us to travel those miles once again this season. 

Both the spirit AND the body is getting weaker, match by match.

I know exactly what you mean 🙁

Bannon is the kind of player, that when he plays well Wednesday win. As others have said, he is a joy to watch. His reported £40k a week would probably cover our first 11 wages, no doubt, but quality costs, even at league one level. Sadly football is not just pricing fans out, but it's also pricing owners out.

I wasn't too gutted yesterday as I got to have a chat with Kev, the landlord of the New Barrack Tavern. He was in hospital for months last year and pulled through when it hadn't seemed likely, so that made my day.

To point out from my earlier post, I said I thought Jacko would be gone in the summer, it's not what I want (I hold him in similar regard as SCP), it's more what I expect to happen. Sandgaard is proving to be a shrewd businessman and I think he will want success no matter what and if somebody doesn't bring it, then they will be gone.

And when Fanny looses her tingle Thomas really has to sit up and take notice. Even the diehards are losing heart. Bad times.

Sorry to be dumb, but do you mean it took 8 minutes for one CAFC player to successfully kick the ball to another CAFC player?

Constantly looks for the ball, even it tight areas. always in space when he receives the ball so his back 4 don’t have to lump it all the time and drives forward. How many intricate little first time passes did he play down the side of our defenders yesterday. The thing is that Gilbey and Lee looked like they could get to that level against Plymouth and Ipswich, now look at them. I’m sure he’s on a big wedge but he is a massive difference at this grade of football.

And on a pudding of a pitch, he would have ripped us to shreds on a decent surface.

Mason should have put Stockley through for that chance. It's one thing having your forwards back, it's another knowing how to dovetail and use eachother.

Completely agree but you know the answer to the question. 3 forwards out. Leko not turning up in L1. A sale and loan clause so we weren't too light up front. All a bit haphazard.

Because on this recent poor run, there has been litterally no other striker available, perhaps?

Yes, but if you have a player playing that doesn't benefit you, why not play another who doesn't benefit you but may give you a longer term benefit.

Not seen Wassim but from the very limited bits I've seen of Ghandour I think he's closer to being 'lightweight' than a 'big lump'.

I think the majority of goals we are conceding fall into two category types. Winning balls from set pieces and untracked runs behind us. Stopping these should be priorities and probably require tactical change until we have key players fully fit. 

A team with no strikeforce is going to be far poorer than a balanced one. We can't ignore that obvious fact. I would criticise Jacko a bit in that I feel he should have accepted this and set up accordingly but in reality, we still would have struggled. Just maybe we would have gained a point or two more - who knows!

I think a front two of Leko and Burstow is as weak as you are going to get. Burstow should be on the bench at most and Leko is not a central striker. Not in a million years. So you set up as if they are and you play as if they are and is it nonsense.
