It's even worse from behind!
[Insert Kenneth Williams here].2 -
Martinelli….I think that’s good (and brave) refereeing.
Most would just combine the two fouls and give a yellow but Martinelli only has himself to blame for the red there.
Shoved the player taking the throw out of frustration at not being given a foul, ref allows the advantage, Martinelli still frustrated chances the ball and shoves another player in the back.
Stupid foul, only himself to blame.4 -
Again would only happen to Arsenal.0

No it’s not.0

Have you ever heard of it happening before?
Seems like the referee wanted to make a name for himself and again Arsenal are the team that get punished for it.
Bit like when Xhaka was sent off for a simple tackle to break up play, which then never happened again.0 -
Is it overly different to the Traore sending off @ West Ham?
Booked for kicking the ball away, and then again in quick succession because he didnt get out the way.
Seeing a lot of people on twitter saying that the second yellow shouldn't have been given. As the ref should have pulled it back for the initial foul (which would have then been a single yellow card)
But if that's the logic, and a player knows that is going to happen, what's to stop them putting in a two footed challenge, because they know they're not going to get penalised for something that gets pulled back with advantage not given.
As for happening before... Raul Jimenez got two yellow cards against Man City in 30secs just two months ago.0 -
Because a two footed tackle is a straight red?
Traore was booked in the middle of the two incidents. That is the difference.
There is a difference between two yellows in quick succession and Martinelli's case, Matinelli received zero warning he was booked and usually if a ref is giving a yellow they would stop play to give it.
Let's see if a red is ever given again like this. My bet is no because again the referee just wants to make a name for himself and they seemingly always use Arsenal to do it.0 - Sponsored links:

I am more Arsenal bias, as i have stated before (dad) so grew up watching them. 100% right decision last night, what an idiot! Could have cost them the game, thankful it didnt.
I like the fact they seem to be working hard off the ball now, but its becoming a bit ridiculous these red cards. Even before they had Partey and Xhaka on yellows and a few others before, so could easily have been someone else. Never seen anything like that before in the space of 30 seconds two proper fouls but one from the advantage, silly boy.0 -

To be fair very few players are stupid enough to piss off the referee in quick succession.
Could argue that even we were lucky not to have Gilbey sent off on Tuesday
If the referee ever wants to make a name for himself, then its up to the player not to oblige.0 -

Just seen the Martinelli red card. I consider myself quite knowledgeable about football, but I honestly never knew you could be booked twice in the same passage of play.

He committed a bookable foul, advantage was played and then he committed another bookable foul
he got booked for both bookable fouls
what is so hard for you to understand ?

1. It's good refereeing for not letting the player get away with 2 incidents.
2. If Martinelli knew he had the first yellow, he quite likely wouldn't have made the second challenge.
However i'm in the referee's camp here, too often players get away with shit like that. Have to question though whether Oliver would've done that if it was (for example) Salah at Anfield or Ronaldo at Old trafford.4 -

I could imagine Martinelli was thinking ‘I’m getting booked anyway I might as well bring him down’
But you shouldn’t be able to get away with one just because the ref played a good advantage.1 - Sponsored links:

Martinelli commited 2 Yellow Card offences. Whether they occured 20 minutes apart or in this case 20 seconds apart is irrelevant as far as I am concerned. Well done Ref I say.5

Horrible week for Spurs. Amazing week for Newcastle.
Fair play to Bruno Lage at Wolves, he's doing an incredible job there. 4th straight away win today (Brighton, Man Utd, Brentford and Spurs). One of the managers of the year without doubt.5 -
Maddison looking good for Leicester.
We should never have let him go3 -
That new lad Burn at the back for Newcastle is an absolute unit.1

91st minute equaliser for spammers. Any reason why half the team didn't celebrate it?0

I honestly don’t know the handball rule anymore0

He was at the back for Fulham years ago in the United game when Moyes told them to keep crossing it and they put in 81 crosses.
Dealt with something like 30 of them himself.0 -
Brighton often played Burn at full back!0
