  • Burstow is a warm up act compared to Kanu. Bring on King Kanu.

What do we think a decent fee is? 6m, plus add ons?

Not sure why we’d want him back on loan at this point. I’d be looking at letting Kanu get a few games, not some Chelsea loan who’ll be gone next season.
In true Charlton style, we will never know.
  • I'm ok with this.  A decent fee & doesn't weaken the squad for the rest of the season.  My only concern would be the reaction of fans towards him

Now we have too many loans
    Under 21 so doesn't count.

Nope, age has nothing to do with it

We'll have six loan signings, only five can be part of the matchday squad

Silly boy... This is just the start of his loan journey
I am sure you calling him silly will really upset him when he runs out at the Valley on Saturday earning twice what anyone else on the pitch is.

If he is good enough no reason he can't go on to play for England and Chelsea's first team, whilst being paid a fortune to develop.

Worst case scenario, for him, is he will bounce around the championship for ten years and be a multimillionaire by the time he is 30.  I don't know why people see going to Chelsea as some sort of death sentence.

surely we can't have more than 5 in the matchday squad no matter what the age?

  • Doesn't surprise me. From the moment I saw him score those 2 goals in the televised youth game against Birmingham last year you could tell he is something special and it was just a question of how long before one of the Premier League vultures picked him off.

But after only 5 or 6 games? That's what is so disappointing. At least in days gone by we could keep young players and enjoy watching them play for 12 - 18 months.

Football is f**ked. My falling out of love with it gets bigger every day.

PS I wish Mason every success.

Unless he signs a pre-contract with Chelsea for the summer and stays on our books as our player until then.

I really don't think the fans will give Mason a hard time. I reckon the majority will be glad he's staying with us for the rest of this season (if that is accurate) and wish him well when he moves on.

God I Fu*king hate  Chelski, turning youth and academy players heads with "loads a money" total spives the bloody lot of 'em, Mason will just be tossed around from pilar to post on loan until he can earn that bloody club another 20 million... total bloody spivs why don't they just sod off.
What's the point of him coming back for a couple of months, either stay here or take your pieces of silver like the rest of 'em...bloody football, don't ya just hate it sometimes..

Not sure how I feel about him staying on loan.
  • The fact he is willing and happy to stay until the end of the season tells you something about the fellas character.

Is rather not have him back on loan. Give Kanu his place in the squad.
Only if he signs a 2-3 year contract first. Anything less would be very foolish.

Especially if his goals fire us to the Play Off Final and he scores the winner against Sunderland ...

... four minutes into second half stoppage time.

He won't have a choice if that's what Chelsea want.
  • Don’t understand the Prem interest TBH - raw talent, but not exactly a Scott Parker, Shelvey, Paul Walsh etc in terms of ‘wow, this boy is special’ for me

Happy to be proved wrong - but the bottom line is that young footballers now can earn huge sums so early in their careers, going to a club like Chelsea at his age, knowing that the % chance of actually having a career with them is very very low - but outweighed by the money on the table sets the scene

I bet none of these lads have to clean the 1st team players boots, clean the changing rooms etc - apparently the world is a better place these days …..

He’ll need a lot of character among long-serving pros on about a fifth of his wages. Not great for team spirit.

Won’t be the same player on loan - an injury for example and he’s screwed.
  • We DESPERATELY need him back for the rest of the season, with Stockley crocked and Aneke likely be injured or suspended at some point, we can't rely on Washington and a raw kid who has no first team experience, who we don't even know is under contract

Chelsea know about him before then, he was on trial there from Maidstone 2 years ago
