Agree.DOUCHER said:i think its clear that watson and morgan don't feature in jacko's plans (which is good) and would expect them to be gone at the end of the season so another midfielder, although not as critical as a striker or two, is definitely required
Especially if he can score a few goals and take a decent free kick.0 -
I agree some positions need more urgent attention than others, with regard to new signings but if a player is available and better than what you already have, for example in midfield, then you’d be silly not to sign him surely.5
-
Thats exactly how it works - After endless explanations from Gallen, am surprised that people dont understand that by now - If we sign someone at Right-Back first, doesn't mean to say we're not looking for players in other positionsBournesnr said:I agree some positions need more urgent attention than others, with regard to new signings but if a player is available and better than what you already have, for example in midfield, then you’d be silly not to sign him surely.3 -
I wouldnt be surprised if Watson gets a coaching role with us though.DOUCHER said:i think its clear that watson and morgan don't feature in jacko's plans (which is good) and would expect them to be gone at the end of the season so another midfielder, although not as critical as a striker or two, is definitely required2 -
Not sure there would be room for Watson and Pearce in coaching roles?0

They've got a hell of a lot better squad than us and will be promoted before us.Dippenhall said:
Ipswich did a lot of talking pre season - that went well didn’t it.DICKIE PLUMB said:i really don’t understand why there is this obsession with waiting until the window is about to ‘slam’ shut before doing any business. I get that some clubs might be reluctant to sell and are practicing brinkmanship but money talks and the number of games any new players are missing during the window could be critical. Not being turned over when you negotiate a deal is hardly an obsession.Fans are experts at talking and how to spend the owner’s money but thankfully someone else is in control.3 -

Watson can and probably will go back to Palace as a coach, it's nice and local, he's seen in a good light there as he came through the youth ranks, and with the new academy training ground they've built I'm sure they'll need a lot of coaches in and around the place.mendonca said:Not sure there would be room for Watson and Pearce in coaching roles?
Pearce will 100% stay on here as a coach, start with one of the unders like Euell did and see how he does1 -
we are light on coaches, maybe there is room for both?
although I think what Sam said above is realistic. I think Pearce will get an academy
role0 -
Pearce is already a coach for the U15ssam3110 said:

Seem to recall him talking recently about working with Deji Elerewe when he was at that level

Watson will either stay with us, possibly as an over aged u23, or go to Bromley as player coach. A lot with him and Pearce is if they want to play or not, you can't really blame them can you.sam3110 said:

One piece of advice frequently given to footballers is ‘play as long as you can’.
To me that makes for example Charlie McDonald and Kevin Lisbie amongst the cooler dudes.
Mostly you’re a long time retired from playing.4 -
I think part of TS plan for a Category One academy is to utilise more ex players as youth coaches. I imagine it’s a cheaper option and it gives them a place to learn their craft while they’re doing their badges - as well as bending the rules a bit for our bid.mendonca said:Not sure there would be room for Watson and Pearce in coaching roles?0 -
Based on the fact they have a ton of money to invest into their team. Whilst not getting it right last summer, they will keep investing until they doAddick_8 said:

Would ex players be cheaper anyway? I can't imagine someone who's been coaching kids since his 20s would want more wages than an ex PL player like WatsonElliotCAFC said:

Not necessarily under JJ as I think he will have a Bowyer type pull about him for players, but with money in their rockets, it's only a matter of time before Ipswich get out of this pony league. We also have a lot of work to do in the summer.Scoham said:

I’m assuming someone with 5+ years coaching experience, specialising with certain age groups will be more expensive to recruit and retain than current players going into their first season of being a coach.killerandflash said:

Ben Watson the coach will be on a drastically different wage to Ben Watson the player.0 -

Got it right under Bowyer a few years ago too. Cullen, Pratley, Bielik and Taylor were all superb signings. Steer was solid enough first half of that season and was getting better before recalled. Squad was a little light because of Roland but Purrington was a game changing signing in the Jan. Parker divides opinion but couldn’t have done much better with the budget available. Jamie Ward was probably about the only signing that overall was a failure.eaststandmike said:

We definitely enquired about the Palace kid. First hand information that we’ve been in contact with them and made a loan offer. Our offer was declined, never told the reason why it was declined, but it was rejected. Will wait to hear whether we go back in for him.3

Charlton looking at West Ham youngster Armstrong Okoflex on loan to booster their strikeforce. highly rated at Celtic before joining West Ham in the Summer - ROI International.20
-
I think I’ll just refer to him as Arm Flex3
-
What a name that is!2
-
As of last month he'd scored 14 goals in 15 games for the u-23s so far this season. But likely shows our plans for the window a couple of risky young loans. Lets hope this one comes off!0
-
Talented player. Would be shocked if he drops to L1 level.0
