Seems an odd timing.
I quite liked Warnock and this ending for him seems not right. He has earned respect over the years in my opinion.7 -

Sounds like Chris Wilder to Boro0

Heard from a Boro supporting mate of mine that it seems to have been agreed a few weeks ago with Wilder looking like he’s going there.0

Yeah I think it was probably already agreed between him and Gibson that he would go at the international break.
I don't reckon that is it for him though. Cardiff, as mentioned above is possible, but Bristol City would be my best guess.0 -

Really awkward timing for both Norwich and Boro. Clearly done to coincide with the international break, but it looks really awkward when the teams get a decent result5

Middlesbrough have appointed former Sheffield United, Oxford United and Northampton Town boss Chris Wilder to succeed Neil Warnock as their manager.

Farke ? .. that's the way to do it .. wait months for a first win and when it comes, sack the manager the same day .. has ol Delia been at the cooking sherry again ?4

Dean Smith has left Aston Villa0

I think Wilder is a decent manager. His track record at Northampton and at Sheffield United was very good. Middlesbrough will seal his credentials or if he fails to get them promoted his stock will fall. I suspect the former.0

Be interesting to see where he goes next. England job after Southgate next year?Doesn’t deserve to be back in the championship but would he get another job in the premier league.1 -

Now he has a bit of a losing streak he's out the door and everything he has built they have decided to rip up. I remember pundits and fans absolutely falling over themselves to credit what a great manager he was when his side lost on penalties to Chelsea in the league cup,.
When was that? 22nd September. A few weeks later and a few poor results he is suddenly no longer good enough. You would think promotion and two seasons in the Premier League, as well as having your star player sold in the transfer window would buy you a little more time to turn things around.
But no it seems like managers literally live game-by-game nowadays. Perhaps some like it that way but it just depresses me. It was a few weeks ago Mike Arteta was being described as hopeless and many predicting he'd be sacked if they lost to Norwich and then suddenly a few wins later I heard him being touted on Sky as a possible replacement for Guardiola at City when he leaves.
Hopefully Villa get what they deserve and there back in the Championship next season.19 -
Wonder if Wilder might have held off for a few days he could have had a Premier League job.1
-
So, just 11 games into the season and five PL Managers have already lost their jobs. In fact, almost half of all PL Managers weren't in that position this time last year. Such is the demand for success/survival.0

As someone said about Smith, 'Imagine performing exceptionally in your job for 2 years 11 months only to get sacked for 1 slightly off month'

I heard a boro fan yesterday on the radio when it was rumoured he was coming in saying they didn't want him and wanted someone from abroad who favoured possession based football, when asked who they had in mind they replied they didn't have anyone in mind but just wanted a foreign appointment.
His Sheff Utd side played some great football at times and living locally I know a lot of Sheff Utd fans all of whom absolutely loved him and would quite happily have had him remain as manager even if they'd lost every Premier league game that season because they were sure he'd get them back up.
Of course I'm sure there's a lot of boro fans delighted at the appointment and I think he will do really well for them.
Be interesting to see where Smith ends up, after his stint at Villa you'd almost think he'd be to good for the championship but you do wonder which Premier League side he would end up at. I think he could do a decent job at Norwich but I suspect they already have their candidate in mind before they sacked Farke.

Maybe Smith will take over at Watford when they sack Ranieri in January...2
