the point is loadsa parachute cash to spread around .. as was mentioned a few weeks back, there are four prime yoyo clubs from Champ to Prem than up and down, WBA, Fulham, Norwich, Watford .. it's nowadays VERY hard for a club coming into the Prem and the 'yoyo pattern' is starting to also be seen throughout the EFLSELR_addicks said:

Norwich it doesn't seem to be the case. Farke did exactly the same 2 years ago and is happy doing exactly the same again.
In 2019/2020 Norwich finished 20th and 13 points behind 19th place. With the same manager that has them 8 points off 17th in only 10 games.0 -

2 years ago, I could understand them being very financially cautious - that's what WE did after promotion in 98 - as it paid off their previous debts, but surely 2 years later you'd want to make more of an effort to STAY in the Premier League, and try and establish yourselves1 -
Norwich, through the sale of Godfrey and Buendia, have also made a net profit of £6m on transfers in the last two seasons0

as I alluded to earlier, the problem will come when 4 or 5 of his players will reach 30+ together, will slow down, become more injury prone, and will need replacing .. I know Man U have a couple of pensioners up front, but that is an exception .. Alex Ferguson allowed his team to stay together too long and this handed Moyes a a poisoned chalice at Man U ..Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Surely the Norwich saga is against the spirit of competition. If you’re not actively trying to compete and the owner is just hoarding the money, that’s worse than an owner splashing the cash in the hope of promotion and withstanding in he PL. At least the second option provides competition. Teams know they can play at 20% and most likely beat Norwich.Arteta has done a great job turning things around since the start but then in fairness there were quite a few new faces in the first 11 and didn’t they have Liverpool, City and Chelsea in their first 5 games or something.We know it’ll never happen but the FA and PL need to come out and explain exactly why 3 almost identical situations this weekend, one of them had a different outcome. Identical situations shouldn’t have any chance for a refs point of view, it should be black and white.0

The difficulty with VAR is everyone craves consistency however its never going to happen because decisions are subjective. I've seen plenty suggest the Leicester incident should have been a red card but then plenty agreed with the yellow which suggests it wasn't a 'clear and obvious' error and therefore VAR was right not to intervene.Andyessgee90 said:Surely the Norwich saga is against the spirit of competition. On the one decision VAR can make which isn't subjective (offside) you then have people complaining it should be more open to interpretation.
I must say as well there is nothing more cringe worthy than pundits slating referee's and then quoting completely incorrect interpretations of the law. I've heard at least 3 different pundits this weekend mention the fact players should have been sent off because they were 'last man' which has never been a law. Surely if you are paid handsomely enough to talk football for a living you should at least have a basic understanding of the laws of the game.0 -
The refereeing in this country is some of the worst refereeing in any sport though.

I reckon Dean Smith will be under pressure soon if they don't start winning again.
Ok they lost Grealish but overall their squad is stronger as they bought 3-4 players with the money and were tipped to push top 10. They're level on points with Watford.1 -
