So much better today. Gilbey, Lee, Arter and Leko were excellent. Kirk looked more like the player we signed and Davison again looked sharp.

I really thought we were going to fall apart after conceding. I just wish we could get ourselves 2-0 ahead in a game and take the pressure off. However, much needed win and we will take it however it comes.

That photo of Arter celebrating makes me think he cares. I think he will become a decent signing. @Leuth might not like my opinion though.
I agree with you … some have written him off far too soon
I agree too, and btw mate if you could only enjoy the Leko post match interview in audio, I’m here to tell you he’s got a smile to light up the entire National Grid. As another poster said, he belongs here, and he perfectly fits the new strategy of young players who can develop with us.

Total relief and the show appears to be on the road at last.

Oh what fun it is to see Charlton win away "

OK. It's another 12 weeks away but tonight it FEELS like Christmas !

Sadly, didn't make it to Fleetwood but thanks to those brave souls that did, our lads had the benefit of fantastic support.

I'd be fibbing if I said there wasn't a few times when my heart was in my mouth but this was a thoroughly entertaining match, with the Men in Black showing those lights they'd previously been hiding under a bushel.

Effort, skill, workrate, bravery & last but not least, togetherness - qualities we've questioned of late but shown in abundance this afternoon.

    14 MOMs for me today.

    Fanny loves you All !

Interesting that Curbs feels we need 3 CMs in this league so he'd use 4-3-3.
I remember back in the Prem days, for a spell Curbs played 4-5-1 with Shaun Bartlett getting battered and sacrificing himself as the lone striker.

Of course  during the game 4-5-1 can easily morph into 4-3-3 when attacking.

Worrying thing is for me. The players that we are hoping will push us up the league, Leko, Lee, CBT and Arter could potentially not be with us in January if the are recalled

A huge thank you to the travelling Addicks who braved the conditions and the petrol crisis to make the journey today! Superb, as always

A great 3 points on the road, thanks for your support! It’s the #LondonMarathon tomorrow. You can help us raise money for Children With Cancer UK and be in with a chance of winning a signed #cafc shirt! Good Luck!

On the flip side today was probably the first time they and Gilbey were all match fit to start..

I think they are, with the exception of Arter, more likley to become permanent than recalled

Each player's club knows their limitation and if you think we're unforgiving then imagine the league above.

Aneke a good example, hardly having any impact in the same super sub role as he did in the league below.

If Arter can find some sort of form and consistency, he can be a big/important player for us.

Much better this afternoon, they played as a team compared with Tuesday night.

The opposition are still getting chances but was nice to see the players getting their bodies in front of efforts today.
I wanted to put a Kenneth Williams picture on your post on the match thread, where you quoted’ I love Corey!!’😂…. Don’t we all!!. But I didn’t know how.
Then you can't be an upstanding member of Charlton Life
I’m sure I’ll come good in the end!!!!

Hope it’s not too late to make my prediction ( time zone differences are confusing) I reckon it’ll be a 2-1   Win to us. Leko and Stockley to score in that order.

I hear it was about dissing Sebo.
Someone clearly shouted an offensive term against Seb in the quiet after a rendition of "Sing a song for Sebbo". There was then understandably tension around it. Initially unclear if the fella carried out was the perpetrator or someone agitating to get at whoever made the remark. Now clear it was the former. Hope he's never seen again. If he is, he'd probably do well to turn up in disguise to avoid being carried off more forcibly than the Fleetwood stewards afforded him. You see some troubling stuff go on but that episode is up there for me.

Much better performance all round. We deserved the win, would have been sickening to concede at the death.

That wasn't a performance of a side who's manager has lost the dressing room. Loan players steaming into challenges and everyone giving effort, even if quality still lacked at times.

Of course it's only Fleetwood, but an away win in shit conditions is good wherever you get it. Results in this league are mad so I feel we can kick on from this.

Shout out to Fleetwood for being the most northern looking town around

    That's Gillingham.

    I can see the caravan.

Arter for me was a plus….early second half a crunching tackle…which is something we have been missing since Pratley…..put himself about today
  • Well done boys.
Great to enjoy a Saturday evening after an important away win.
    Onwards and upwards hopefully.

Lee occupies those pockets of space between the midfield and the striker so well. Really glad to have a player like him

No need for that. Best just to keep quiet if you don't agree with it. But I expect the perpetrator had had a drink or two......or is just uncouth.

Only thing I have to add is that to me, arter played very much like Watson, except, to me he was not afraid to play forwards as opposed to Watson usual safe and sideways. I much appreciate even the attempt to play forwards as I feel like our sideways passing sometimes contributes to allowing a team to regain their defensive structure.

Our second for example was directky from a situation where they didn't regain their structure in time and we went straight through the middle with a somewhat risky pass.

Even in just the highlights, today Lee laid on 3 clear goalscoring opportunities ......  that were all missed.

    Key player.

Really liked Leko's goal .... from standing with the ball, he killed that defender with that sudden sharp movement to create the space to shoot.
And a very decent strike too.

Some great action there, but right at the start was that Gunter (who is as bad as Matthews), who just stood still and let their player run in unchallenged?

How can an experienced player be that inept week in week out?
I mean you don't even have to be able to play football, to be able to run alongside someone and keep goal side of them.
  • Does anyone mind if I take the rest of the season off going to games, I haven’t seen a win yet! 😂
