He did yes, but it was still a big error.se9addick said:
Do you not think he did enough after that to redeem himself?Chris_from_Sidcup said:I saw enough today to tell me that Adkins hasn't lost the dressing room.
Could and should have won by more and on another day those goals will come. Great to see bodies on the line to stop them scoring late on.
Only negative for me was the keeper, that was piss poor to concede with a free kick hit right at the spot he was standing in.
It'll get forgotten about because we won, but had we drawn he'd be getting crucified.0 -
I can't make my mind up about MacGillivray.se9addick said:

Sure he made a good save early on and was in the right place right at the end,
But ..
He never came for a high ball or cross all afternoon. Not once. Amos may have had his faults with long shots but he would have swallowed up some of those crosses. Not coming for a cross just puts the defence under huge pressure.
And he should have saved that free kick. Or at least got a bit nearer to it.

Not quite yet. HMS top half is at least out of port. Let's hope that at least makes the crossing as I think HMS PTL hit an iceberg in the port.Andyessgee90 said:Has HMS Piss the League set off again?1 -
We needed to win and we did, lovely old job.
Shame there is a break now for international shite games but it is what it is. We have some winnable games coming up in October so we need to come back and pick up from today’s result.2 -
What a relief.
Much better across the park. I was impressed with the midfield and Kirk showed us more than he has done before. Felt for him when he chance went wide, we’ve lacked confidence and if there’s someone who needs a goal it’s that man for me.
Thought Leko was great and CBT fantastic off the bench again.
Midfield pair of Gilbey and Arter also good, I forgot how much Gilbey can offer. I want us to get a settled side, I wonder though if a smaller pitch helped Gilbey in the deeper role, I’m not sure if it would work at home but it’s got to be worth a try.
Annoyed there’s a break to be honest, thought I suppose it will finally get rid of the “injury and getting up to speed” fitness stuff.

We've played 11 games & I've not been to 4. 2 of those we have won.....🤔.
Heard we cleared 2 off the line in the very last minute. When your lucks out they go in. Perhaps this is the start & we have turned a corner.
No reason why the same 11 can't start in 2 weeks time......assuming Arter & Gunter don't come back injured or not played too much.6 -

Interesting that Curbs feels we need 3 CMs in this league so he'd use 4-3-3.7

Yes relieved. Must admit I was never at any point confident that we would hold on. Small steps and happy with the win. Deserved that.1

Dare I say it, fairly pleased for Nigel. (& I was in the out camp)Credit to all those who travelled up there today, unreal support and noise.Watched on a stream and we looked much today, I hope we don’t need to make 5/6 changes again because we’ll be ok with this settled side.Thought Arter was very good today, maybe not as “finished” as some thought after 45 mins in action.Need to kick on now and I hope we do. Good to see the players show a bit of fight, hopefully that was for the club and for the manager. Also, I do really like Mcgillivray!COYA8

Gilbey & Arter were always going to be the midfield 2 it's just that we're ten games in and they are still not 100% match fit.Garrymanilow said:Hopefully that's now the central midfield figured out and sorted. If Arter is fit and wants to play then he does provide the mobility and passing that Dobson seems to be struggling to offer. With Gilbey alongside him offering some driving runs and putting himself about then we might actually be able to control games a bit. These players aren't awful, but they've often looked that way without control of any of the games. Let's hope that's a consistent partnership that we can use as a platform to build on4 -
Yeah wasn't critisizing, more pointing out that if he replaced Adkins he'd play the same formation.stonemuse said:
his rationale is good thoughScoham said:Interesting that Curbs feels we need 3 CMs in this league so he'd use 4-3-3.
It looked more like 4-4-2 today, Lee was high up the pitch a lot of the time rather than just in front of Gilbey and Arter.2 -
Equally shouldnt forget his save at 0-0 though.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Had that gone in we'd probably be talking about another defeat given how we perform going behind3 -
Looks like Arter is happy with that win. Could have easily just been sat on the bench - but nice to know he looks like he wants to be here, and it reflected in his performance today.

Delighted we won!
Unable to follow the game but an away win has to be good. Still in the relegation zone though.0 -
Yes, when Inniss and Stockley are in the side his weakness at crosses is concealed. But without either of them we are vulnerable to good crosses. His weight was on the wrong foot for that goal, which he should have saved.Fortune 82nd Minute said:

Completely agree with this, we’ve not been good enough from coaching staff to players. Hopefully this is a start to better things.🤞FishCostaFortune said:
Nonsense basically. We’ve never looked like a team not trying to me, just a team that’s been out thought and out played.Talal said:Wasn't there meant to be unrest in the squad? That wasn't a team not giving their all.1 -

I have been saying that for nearly a year. The early games of this season the formation wasn't the problem it was the midfield 3.Scoham said:Interesting that Curbs feels we need 3 CMs in this league so he'd use 4-3-3.
The formation is sound, its the execution that's the problem.3 -
I know I'm always far too optimistic when it come to Charlton but I honestly think we are so close to clicking as a squad. We have had poor results so far for various reasons but when you saw the players at the end of the game today there is not a chance they dont care ! Confidence is low but today will give them a lift. If they get a few results on the bounce and get a swagger about them I think we will shoot up the league. Dont rule out promotion yet as has been seen today all teams will drop unexpected points and a 5 or 6 game run will put us right in the mix9

HMS Piss-the-League has finally left port.10

433 should look like 442 with 2 wingers, when it works. As almost everyone said we played 442 against Crewe but 4231 against Wigan. We played the same formation, according to Adkins.Scoham said:

A much needed win.
Didn’t go, didn’t follow it, going to take so much more to get me enthused again, but you can only beat what’s in front of you.You read anything into this other than it’s a win. We’ll find out over the coming weeks whether or not it’s a platform or an odd win in 5…3 -
I feel good again after the end of a Charlton game. It's been a long time coming. I will enjoy the weekend - at last!!
The last three games have shown the an improvement in the performance on the pitch. Today considered, by many, the best so far. I hope Nigel feels more confident now that he has finally found the right mix of players to build a more settled team around and who can start to make a serious challenge in this league.
Great support from the travelling fans who were richly rewarded for their efforts watching the lads secure a hard-fought, rare 3 points, for the first time in what feels ages.

That photo of Arter celebrating makes me think he cares. I think he will become a decent signing. @Leuth might not like my opinion though.13

I agree with you … some have written him off far too soonKarim_myBagheri said:That photo of Arter celebrating makes me think he cares. I think he will become a decent signing. @Leuth might not like my opinion though.15 -
Much better, proper midfield. I thought in teh first half aganist Bolton (when we were good) that we wouldn't be able to sustain the pace, but today I didn't think that as it was more controlled.
Arter played well as did Gilbey and thumbs up to Gilbeys yellow he did it at a time when they were starting to bully us and it sort of stopped afterwards.1
