How good does that feel? Three points away, good all round performance, travelling Charlton fans in fine voice.

All the players put in a hell of a shift. We battled all the way to match a physical Fleetwood side but also played some sparkling attacking football. Particularly pleasing that Gunter, Arter and Kirk all played well. Credit where it’s due.

It’s been a long time coming, so let’s enjoy it - and may this be the start of a better period for everyone at CAFC.

Just seen Stockley's goal again lovely to see two ready to hit it.

Only Doncaster and CAFC were the only teams in the bottom half of the table to manage a win today.

Looked like a very attacking line up. Credit to all of them, but also Arter for doing a lot of the dirty work.
  • I've got this strange feeling, not sure if it's relief, hope, pride, or I just need a dump.

    GOYH.

Thought we actually had a bit of identity today. Kept the ball well, attacked and created a lot of chances. The midfield trio looked very balanced, a massive improvement. Lee, Kirk, Leko and Arter all excellent today.

We looked on a different level to Fleetwood but we did ask for it at the end and got a bit lucky. But we deserve a bit of luck.

I felt for the Fleetwood defender (just in front of Stockley) a little bit.

His failed lunge for the ball and reaction as he lay face down on the pitch was a perfect way to describe the fine lines in Football

Yay!  Only third fourth (!) from bottom of division 3.  With a tremendous effort and a touch of the green we could make mid table.

Stockley's goal looks so much better when you see the whole move. Great pass by Lavelle to start it then turn and pass from Arter.

    We won
    and that's what matters
  • Three desperately needed points and perhaps for the first time something to build on. Players will be more confident and Adkins has some pressure taken off.

Arter >>> Watson on that showing. Bit of quality on the ball plus a bit of mobility. Was spent when he went off so no accusations of laziness today.

    very good news

Thought we were still pretty poor to be honest.  Lots of bad choices made. MacGillivray comes for nothing, totally at fault for goal and the poorest keeper we have had for some time.
Soare letting his player past him and allowing crosses routinely.  LaVelle giving a daft free kick away.  Kirk utterly anonymous. We got the better of a team likely to be relegated.  Just.

When we are losing we can't get into the opposition half in the final 10 mins.  When we are winning we can't get out of our own.

Summed up at the end with 40 seconds left when the ball falls in our box to Stockley with all the time in the world to boot it long and he kicks it off for a throw in they can launch into the box and almost score from.

Hopefully this gives them some confidence and our play starts to improve as with our squad we should be cruising past these sorts of teams.
Happy with the 3 points and hoping we can push on.

Leko was excellent.  Arter was decent.  They all tried hard.

Final point, we drop Watson, we win.  No surprise.

  • Had forgotten what it feels like.
  • Solid performance.  Kirk and Lee teamed up well and added much needed creativity.  They both perform so much better when the two midfielders behind them provide energy and cover given their defensive limitations. Can Arter and Gilbey provide that all season - I hope so because, I am not convinced that the likes of Dobson, Morgan or Watson can cover that much of the pitch.  Typical Leko performance - frustrating most of the match but then 2 or 3 moments of absolute brilliance. Defense was a little shaky in possession which will be a concern until at least January. Also, I am not completely convinced yet with Davison and Soare.  Davison has shown a lot of energy and decent pace this year, I just don’t know if he has that scorers mentality to lead the line.  I would lean towards Stockley and Purrington as long as we don’t revert to hoof ball with Stockley.  All in all,  positive signs

    I just feel relieved.
I thought that there were positives in the two last games that I attended.
75 per cent of me wanted Adkins out but the other 25 per cent was hoping that he'd turn it around. It's only one win but hopefully it will now lead to more. I'm not sure we need the international break though.

Wasn't there meant to be unrest in the squad? That wasn't a team not giving their all.
All nonsense or a few players out of favour crying most likely
  • I saw enough today to tell me that Adkins hasn't lost the dressing room.

Could and should have won by more and on another day those goals will come. Great to see bodies on the line to stop them scoring late on.

Only negative for me was the keeper, that was piss poor to concede with a free kick hit right at the spot he was standing in.

My god we needed those three points, that has to be the starting line up moving forward.

Nonsense basically. We’ve never looked like a team not trying to me, just a team that’s been out thought and out played.

Do you not think he did enough after that to redeem himself?

Good feeling after this game. The players  battled hard today. After Fleetwood made it 1-1 I felt it would be Gillingham or Bolton all over again but we actually got on the front foot and had some good chances with Davison (2x). We could and should have scored more, we made it hard on ourselves. Definitely not out of the woods yet but all in all a good day for us. We need more confidence and be more solid at the back though because we do look dodgy sometimes.

Lavelle was a mountain today at CB, was impressed as he won so many headers. Gilbey and Arter look like a midfield pair we can build on and with Leko, Lee and Davison and of course CBT we carry a threat going forward. Kirk also encouraging today.
