Ah yes, the old fallacy that you shouldn't try to campaign for a better society unless you're willing to give up everything you personally earned.
  • If every Premier League footballer did as much for society as Rashford has especially at such a young age the world would be a better place.

And £2m divided by 5 = £400k each. Wow, little wonder the Mail made such as big thing of it!
  • Gutter press. Honestly one of the best things about living abroad now is not having the British print media trying to poison everyone’s opinions.

Vile rag. Most will see through it hopefully.

If anything it shows you can be successful and profit from a capitalist society whilst still giving a damn about those less fortunate.

Awful paper and those that write stuff like that to whip up baseless champagne socialist sneering are scum.

Brilliant what Rashford has achieved and he deserves all the material success he gets.

The mail makes a big deal out of charity work done by royals and doesn't bemoan them literally living in castles and palaces ffs.

I watched that final last night (yes all of it 😫😂) and just knew Marcus would be on his SM this morning talking about getting shed load of racist abuse.

    I just don’t get it 🤬

I genuinely feel for the lad I really do. I wish he would just ignore it but that’s easy for me to say as an over 50 white woman.

    I really hate some humans.

One of the perpetrators of the abuse is a maths teacher. Obviously that person is not very good at adding up because when you are in a job of such responsibility "racist abuse = potential sacking from job + end of career"

I think he probably spends his days adding up numbers to be fair.

They should erect a "Thickometer" on the fourth plinth at Trafalgar Square and live feed it to our screens. Every time a cretin like the alleged maths teacher is summarily sacked for gross stupidity the total rises.  Oh who am i kidding it's pointless, we are all doomed!

Ignoring the social media and all the positivity of the stuff he's doing off the pitch, his actual form this season has been pretty poor. He was awful last night

Looked well off the pace, no idea if it was an injury, he's been overplayed this season and is knackered, or if he's just in poor form.

Yes his form has been off.
Yes he had a very bad game last night.

But that does mean he should be subjected to ANY abuse ever, let alone racist abuse?

    Of course it bloody doesn’t.

I even saw a Man Yoo account on Twitter say they knew he’d use the racist posts to deflect from his poor performance 😳

    I mean WTAF? 🤷‍♀️🤬

I wouldn’t blame him for hanging his boots up & walking away.
    We don’t deserve him.

The guy is a fantastic player & a fantastic person.

Yet, for some, it still isn’t enough.

    Feck em.

I don't understand how anyone needs to bring colour into it let alone be abusive about it. Completely unnecessary and unrelated

The boy is in his early 20s and his stats are unreal... I don’t get the negativity about him. He’s carrying an injury but on his day is a game winner

He is right not to ignore it. We can't pretend this isn't happening. Of course, the country hasn't suddenly turned more racist, but racists in the past did not have the same opportunities to target people that is offered by social media.

The anti racism campaigns don't seem to be doing much, I think if you're a racist and you see a bunch of sport stars telling you not to be racist then it won't do anything. You're still going to be a racist pig

At least now people are having repercussions for racist posts but that's only a small minority, the repercussions néd to be vast and swift

Yeah, he looks injured and exhausted, the Euros is probably the last thing he needs

I personally have felt the 'Bend the knee' has gone on too long, BUT... Clearly it hasn't. I know its been subject to much debate whether it should continue but it does keep it in the headlines and make people more aware.

Its such a shame in this day and age that people resort to Racism/Gender any other type of prejudice, to actively go out and seek someone because they didn't perform and go down that route is pretty scummy. Yes we will never get rid of it unfortunately its always been around, but still we need to keep progressing on all fronts and dont let up, even the bend the knee, which i initially thought was bit dragged out.

Rashford comes across as such an amazing person, helping children, raising awareness. Really we have some proper shitty people out there and i hope that they crack down hard and make an example of the perpetrators .

I suspect it's a case of fatigue, he's played a lot of football plus dealing with everything off the pitch as well - yes modern pros have a certain level of fitness but he's only human.

Indeed - Saturday will be his 60th appearance for Club and Country since 19th September. With the exception of Fernandes, who has a remarkable 67 games to his name but who is also not performing at the level he was early season, there can't be too many players that have played more than him this season.

Apparently he needs an operation and it's being delayed until after the euros. It might be best for all parties if he pulled out of the squad and got it sorted now.

The establishment will view him as a jumped up little upstart who is making ripples in a puddle where people who don’t usually get to hear the truth might just be listening. What an impressive young man he is. Go Marcus.

Made me angry and sad at the same time the statement he put out on social media, no one deserves that kind of abuse, something has got change.

I will give you impressive young man but "one hell of of a footballer"......................nah, bang average at best. If we are pinning any hopes of winning the Euro's on him we may as well not turn up.

He plays in the Premier League and for England.

He is a lot more than "bang average"

He's scored 11 goals, with 9 assists, in 37 league games this season.  That's a lot more than "bang average".

Is he "world class" whatever that means?  Probably not but if he's "bang average" then can we sign some "bang average" players please Thomas.
