    I didn't know the family background of Giggs and his brother until I looked at a couple of you tube  interviews that follow that ad ....looks like they had a very troubled childhood which explains but doesn't excuse the behaviour of both of them 

    How Giggs was ever considered management material defeats me though..theres no mitigation for beating a woman in my view so if hes guilty he deserves whatever he gets 

    You have to ask do we congratulate Ferguson for getting the best from him as a footballer or did it just gloss over or even worsen his other issues

    Are you referring to George Best who spent time in prison for drink driving and assaulting a police officer or Gazza who used to beat the shit out of his wife?

    If Ferguson knew about him shagging his wife's brother for 8 years, I think they would have had a word or 2...

    It appears he is possibly a very dark character but he's also very good at hiding it.

    "Only hurt themselves", that a joke? Addiction, whether that be drink, drugs or even gambling doesn't just destroy the lives of those who are addicted. I do get your point though, Giggs' actions are different.

    ABH has a maximum of 5 years, so I guess anywhere from community service to 5 years inside.

    Although (if guilty), expensive lawyer, no prior record, 'mitigating factors' well argued etc... sod all, probably.

    Maybe the coersive behaviour will add a bit of persuasion to the judge if he is found guilty. To be honest I would guess that ABH is common in domestic violence yet I doubt many get prison sentences. I could be very wrong but that's the feeling I have.

    I may have worded my point badly. 

    Addiction leads good people into doing bad things, it can hurt people that love that person but there’s zero malice in ones actions. The salient point in the “only hurting themselves” comment is that addicts are unwillingly self destructing from the inside out, but yes others may be hit with the shrapnel. 

    Giggs may well be going through some mental trauma but he’s seemingly of coherent mind to be making better decisions.

    Bit of community service and a large fine (if guilty). I'd be amazed if he did any time for it.
