  • Slightly surprised we've signed a quick bowler, as out batting will be most affected by callups and the 100
  • Will be captain for much of the summer given Billings' likely absence
  • I see that Surrey and Middlesex are selling T20 tickets, but Kent aren't. Does anyone know why, and when Kent might put theirs up for sale?
I received this email from Kent dated 12th March

The Club is currently working on a number of capacity scenarios to ensure that we are able to safely welcome as many Kent Cricket supporters back to watch live cricket as soon as guidance allows us to.

Tickets may be limited, so we are encouraging non-Members and those without a Six Pack Ticket Package to complete the sign-up form below to get early access to tickets for Kent’s home Vitality Blast matches:

    https://ddlnk.net/1NLC-7A7SU-KKAK5W-4DLMX7-1/c.aspx

The priority window is open until 31st March so I expect they will start selling them after that date

  • Already got tickets for the Kent/Surrey T20 @ The Oval.
Us too and the one at Lords; hope we get to go!

Kent are playing a two day friendly starting today against Middlesex at Merchant Taylors School.  Day one - Middlesex will bat for a maximum of 60 overs with Kent due to receive 30 overs.

Whilst it's not being streamed highlights can be found here:

  • They're playing 12 a side and it looks like we've taken seven seamers and no spinners - a reflection of when the CC is played and the prevalent conditions. And we wonder why England struggle to produce top class spinners!
  • Middlesex 103-0

Milnes must have a niggle or injured because he has failed to complete one of his overs

  • 141-0 off 46 overs

    Robson 65* (149)
    Holden 56* (137)

Difficult to understand why these two didn't retire at 50 given the number of balls and bowlers they've faced

Both "retired out"on those scored following a rain break. Gubbins, no doubt suffering from a bad case of early season pad rash, was then out 3rd ball for a duck - LBW to Stewart
  • Eskinazi LBW Milnes 2

    161-4 off 53

Middlesex 184-4 off 60 innings suspended

    Kent 4-0

DBD & Cox opening followed by Crawley, Denly, Leaning and Robinson. Looks a good top 6 on paper especially when one considers that Billings and Kuhn are missing
  • Lovely ground; used to play there each year. Such a good wicket that we switched to all day games starting at 11am, with lunch and tea breaks. Still never had a game with 20 wickets!

Seb is potentially playing there for Kent U18s against Middlesex on 2nd May. He's played against them there three times and he's hardly scored a run. In fact, I can't recall us getting more than 150 but I should stress that those games were when they were younger and they were never played on the main square - usually very early in the season when the rain had got to the wicket too.

One season, next door on the main square, the year above were playing with Michael Atherton's son captaining Middlesex and the son and grandson of Mark and Alan Ealham respectively was skippering us.
  • 95-1 off 25 at close of play

    Cox out for 36
    DBD 47*
  • Unfortunately rain has finished the game early

Kent reached 206-4 in their 60 overs, DBD retired out for 63 and Denly making 53
  • Kent playing Essex in another two day friendly. Currently 58-2 off 23 overs

    DBD 43* (including 10 boundaries!)
    Cox bowled Allison 9
    Crawley LBW Snater 2
    Leaning 0*

  • 82-2 off 28 at lunch

DBD 58* (off 92 balls including 13 boundaries which means he scored 6 off the other 79 balls)
    Leaning 4*
  • 206-5

    DBD retired 101
    Leaning retired 57
    Robinson LBW Quinn 13
  • Quick post something. Can't have the surrey thread above this one.....

    Wibble
  • We currently have batting M Player & N Player. Who look remarkably like Zac Crawley and Jordan Cox. In fact they are Zac Crawley and Jordan Cox though quite why they aren't named as such is a bit of a mystery.
  • 270-5

    M Player 30*
    N Player 36*

Esssex are cheating though - we've only used 5 batsmen but they have used 10 bowlers so far!
  • 206-5

    DBD retired 101
    Leaning retired 57
    Robinson LBW Quinn 13
If you had reported Stevens retired 57, I’d have assumed you were referring to his age and working status.
It amazes me that he is still going, especially when you consider that he qualified for his first covid jab two months ago! Fair play to him
  • Essex 39-1 off 11

A certain former England captain and record run scorer out LBW for 10 to Podmore. To be fair to Cook, he walked off even before the Umpire put his finger up!
