  • 115-1 at lunch
  • Essex 39-1 off 11

A certain former England captain and record run scorer out LBW for 10 to Podmore. To be fair to Cook, he walked off even before the Umpire put his finger up!
He was needed back at the farm!
  • Essex finished on 299-5

Podmore returned the best figures for us with 15-3-46-2
  • Looking at the Kent innings I see Denly didn't bat, whereas Crawley and Cox batted twice!
  • Who is Tawanda Muyeye?
Kent have signed him on a 3 year contract.

Kent have signed him on a 3 year contract.

Tawanda's from Zimbabwe, Came to England as a 16/17 year old on a scholarship and went to school at Eastbourne College where he became Wisden Schools Cricketer of the Year. He's now 20 but I would be surprised if he is ready to go straight into the first team but you never know what will happen when the likes of Billings, Blake, Crawley and Denly disappear for The Hundred.

He was previously with Sussex - Rob Ferley was his cricket master at Eastbourne College and of course our batting coach, Mike Yardy, would know him too. It's interesting that he's signed as a domestic player but, presumably, he now holds British Citizenship.
  • In the current financial climate, we appear to be going the same way as a number of counties in signing more younger players for the future rather than established cricketers.

Tawanda Muyeye follows the signatures of Nathan Gilchrist and Hamidullah Qadri as well as the homegrown players such as Jordan Cox, Ollie Robinson, Marcus O'Riordan and of course Zac Crawley - all seven players are under 23 which bodes well for the future

...except by the time they are any good they will sign for Slurry or Essex....

,,,,,,but probably better that we have an opportunity to retain them than they sign for those counties first.....

A Sports Scholar at Eastbourne College under the mentorship of former Kent stars Rob Ferley and James Tredwell, the 20-year-old was named as Wisden Schools Cricketer of the Year for 2020, an award previously won by England stars Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler, as well as Kent’s Vice-Captain, Daniel Bell-Drummond.

    Sussex never stood a chance!

  • Another future Surrey legend coming up through the Kent system.
    Many thanks in advance.

He just didn't want to have to face Jofra in the nets

  • First of the final two day warm up games today. Kent batted today and reached 280-14!!!!

    High and low lights:

    Stewart 105 retired
    Robinson 59
    Stevens 36
Kuhn batted twice and followed a duck in his first innings with an undefeated 33 in his second
Leaning batted twice too but failed to trouble the scorer in either innings!

Now this might just be a wind up but, in response to questions as to why Joe Denly hasn't played in the last two warm up games, a suggestion has been put forward that he has agreed to sign for Surrey.

@cantersaddick Have you heard anything about this?

Edit - this has been confirmed a wind up from someone on the Facebook group!

As you've said. Complete bull. He would hardly be likely to take the number 3 slot off Amla.

Denly can bat anywhere in the top 5. And judging from your recent history you could do with him:

    Sussex: 382 for 5 declared
    Surrey: 48 for 6
    Updated it for you
  • Worcs 46-3

    Gilchrist 2-6

Not a bad grab from Crawley

Just watched that. All the bobble hats in the slips.
  • 60-5

A couple of wickets to Klassen

You're not wrong. We have for the current match added Amla Burns Pope and Foakes. Our batting straightaway looks a class above.
  • Worcs 288 all out

Pick of the TEN bowlers utilised was Milnes with figures of 10-3-25-3

    Surrey 284-12 88.4
    Sussex CCC 382-5 (dec)

Looks like your batting needs bolstering if you still can't score as much as Sussex (only losing 5 wickets) with players batting twice

Our two main spinners weren't even in the squad. We probably won't even play one in the first half a dozen Championship matches and therein lies the whole reason why, as a country, we struggle to produce international class ones - green tracks and freezing cold hands are not really conducive to doing so

As I said that was before those 5 were back in the squad. We also had a significantly weakened bowling linup for that game. Completely different side playing moddlesex as we speak.

    Ah, the one Middx won?
