Haven't watched much this season. Did Aribo play much? A lot of team sheets I only seen him as listed as sub but maybe they were the big games. How has he performed when played this season. Yeah he’s played a lot, and has chipped in with a few goals too. Fans love him, bit of a cult hero thing - he’s not the best player in the team (not even the best player in his position) but he’s exciting and has a touch of class.orpingtonRED said:

I've always thought he would get to a high level, he had something special about him even playing for us.

It’s almost inconceivable that anyone else could win the SPL nowadays. The chance would have been when Rangers were out of the league, and Aberdeen had a decent team during that period, but not one really came close to challenging Celtic. To put it into context I honestly think there’s more chance of Charlton winning the Premier League in the next 10 years than any team outside of the Old Firm winning the SPL.0

It’s nowhere near the standard of the top leagues in Europe and light years worse than the English top flight, but I’m not sure those are sensible comparisons given the population and resource differences. I would say the SPL is probably lower English Championship at best with the bottom of the SPL being akin to the middle of league one (I went to Hamilton v St Mirren before lockdown and Charlton would probably be competitive against either of those teams). I think that’s fairly decent for a small country, but I like watching football all around the world whenever I get a chance to travel so can accept that not everything is going to be Premier League standard, if people are expecting every league everywhere to be of that standard then I can understand why the SPL wouldn’t live up to those expectations.5 -

Hard to say as I don’t watch much L2 but I think that might be slightly harsh. Hamilton are perennially the worst/one of the worst teams in the SPL (this might be the year they finally run out of luck and go down) and I reckon they are about mid to lower English League 1.ElfsborgAddick said:

I have groundhopped over half the Scotland circuit and had a thoroughly good time. I will give the fans credit with their passion(they put us to shame), even down to seeing the likes of East Fife and Albion Rovers.se9addick said:

Dundee Utd won it in 82/83, different times. Beating Real Madrid in the cup winners cup final is also incredible but i think most people would say the treble was his greatest achievement.Richard J said:

Do we remember when Bowyer criticised Aribo for going there? A league title, decent run in the Europa and gets to play Champions league football next season.

I suspect the treble he won with Man Utd will be repeated before a non Glasgow club wins a Scottish title. Indeed Pep may do it this year.
Jim McLean's Dundee United were also a good side ( including the famous Ralph Milne) but he only grabbed one title. Fergie's achievement was that he challenged over a long period of time and won three titles.

I've watched Rangers quite a few times this season and they've looked pretty good. Surprised Tavernier has never played at a higher level.
Aribo has looked okay but his decision making is sometimes suspect and for me he loses possession too often.
Gerrard has done a good job with the team.

In the late 80s, half the England team went to Rangers because English clubs were banned from Europe because of Heysel. European football is a huge pull for players.1 -

I lived in Edinburgh from 2006-2008, towards the end of that era, and went to watch Hearts quite a few times (I lived on Pilrig so much closer to Easter Road but Charlton coincidentally played a friendly away to Hibs a week after I moved up and that experience put me off Hibs for life).
