Obscure players you remember for weird reasons

Len Badger. Blades hero who should have stayed in the sett.0

Bryan Ruiz, used to play for Fulham for a few seasons. Was a proper flair player, not underrated, however used to play like he glided across the field. Didn't produce enough though, nice to watch0

A couple of years back we lost 4-3 at Shrewsbury in the first round of the league cup, we had a fella called Holden play who I think was on loan. That, I'm sure, was his entire Charlton career. I felt for a while this was obscure as it got, although the Checkatrade cup probably adds a new dimension of anonymity, 8-0 wins excepted.

He also seemed to score a lot of own goals0 -
Ian Ormondroyd. Strange name, strange looking footballer.0

Rouamba? Ruamba?
The guy who signed for us but never played, basically remember him because one of the other players said he looked like a triangle.0 -
Sam Aiston. Came on as a sub against us for Sunderland in the mid-90's. First time he got the ball and went on a sprint down the pitch from right-back position in front of the Covered End, the whole of blocks E and F were cracking up.
Can't remember exactly what was so amusing about his running style - he was quite tall and slim, but I think he might have had that slightly unfortunate figure that some women have where the arse is massively out of proportion to everything else and you could rest a pint on one of his buttocks! You probably had to be there, but it was funny at the time!0 -
Victor Kasule (Albion Rovers) at the time I lived in Scotland he was the only black player who played across the divisions.0
-
A few spring to mind, mostly from the 90s.Andy Ansah from a couple of great tussles with Southend.
John McDermot the Grimsby full back.
Iwan Roberts with one tooth in his head at Leicester.
David Speedie when at Blackburn, who waved to us after scoring at Upton Park.
Tony Agana at Notts County.0 -
Players who I always feared in the early to mid 90s when I was in my youth... who always seemed to do well / score against us:
Wayne Allison
John Hendrie
Jan Aage Fjortoft
Marco Gabbiadini
Brian Tinnion
John McGinlay

Tunji Banjo at Orient in the early 80s.

Yaya Bannana every since we got linked with him, I look him up every so often.0

American Goalkeeper Tony Meola.
We were playing at selhurst and when we played Watford, after the pre match warm up he spent a good 5-10 minutes talking tactics and generally how he was settling in his new surroundings. I couldn’t get a word in edgeways.
I think he thought I was part of the Charlton playing set up or something when in fact I was just a pitch side steward that happened to be working the tunnel area that day.1 -

That may have been the game I saw, maybe it wasn't welling?

Jack Brownsword of Scunthorpe United. He played right back and made over 500 appearances. One season he scored a stack of penalties that almost made him leading scorer mid-season. He was a more than useful sprinter and was never booked. According to Wikipedia, he scored 52 of 53 penalties in his career. He earnt a page in special football scrapbook when I was aged about 9. There’s even a road named after him in Scunthorpe.1
