LB: I’ve spoken to Thomas [Sandgaard] and it was a positive conversation. He understands what needs changing." #cafc

LB: "I’ve told him the ins and the outs of the club. It’s a very, very good club. We have a fanbase that’s unreal and as long as the people running the club show they care, the fans will support them." #cafc

LB: “For sure, he seems like he has the best interests of the club. He comes across that’s it long term and if it is him, he’ll be the right person to take this club forward.” #cafc

LB: "We’ve got four definite players and two maybes lined up. That’s plan A. Plan B means we can’t sign anyone and we'd have to dig deep because we’ll be in trouble. That’s why this needs to happen." #cafc

LB on injuries: "International players all came back fit. Our only injury is Pearcey, but even he’s ahead of schedule." #cafc

LB: “Saturday’s game is two teams who have just come into the division. They are a nice side to watch, they move the ball well and play good football so it won’t be easy.” #cafc

LB: “Nothing changes. I do believe that if things go the right way for us, we will get stronger and stronger and grow. I’ll always push them, same as I always have.” #cafc

You have to feel for Lee, Jacko, and Steve Gallen - it must be soul destroying for them having to deal with one off-the-pitch shambles after another.

Normally it's players come back crook and short-term injuries become career-threatening.0 -
Hopefully just one more day, Lee.7

Some of those comments don't really reek of a takeover being imminent.1

Id ask why the press conference is so late today?
Have the comms team been preparing for other things?1 -
I'm sure he has but almost certainly would have been told to play it down.CH4RLTON said:

Yes of course he would but that doesn't mean he'll give anything away. He knew about the Levitt signing for days before it was announced. Why would a takeover announcement be any different?CH4RLTON said:1 -
He’s not going to come out and say “I am sure we will have good news coming soon” and build up the hopes of everyone. He has to play things down a little but still shows enough in those quotes to say he knows something is very far along at the very least.CH4RLTON said:
He also has always said he tries to keep the background off-field stuff separate. He’s trying to prepare us for the opening game of the season, that focus has to be right otherwise it translates to the players.
I am sure he knows more than he’s letting on.9 -

I know what he meant - my point is that he would not want to steal the show.Chunes said:
Lee is both very good at that sort of thing, surprisingly politically astute, and he will know some but not all.4 -
The way I see it... he was happy to talk about his interactions with TS and TS hasn’t even been announced as owner. Not sure how that can be anything other than a good thing?0
-
You're missing the point - I wasn't dismissing Lee making the announcement, merely that he would not want to give too much away - even if he knows everything.Chunes said:2 -
Maybe Lynch or another centre back has been training with the 1st team so is ready to play on Saturday if the embargo is lifted tomorrow morning and we can sign him before the deadline (1pm?).
I hope so as otherwise it's daft why we didn't bring in a defender this week instead of a midfielder1 -
I’d dread to think where we would be without Bowyer15

He certainly succeeded in not giving too much away!bobmunro said:

Unless Bowyer was confident we could get through Saturday ok and we’d have lost Levitt if we’d waited any longer. Last weekend proved that as a squad we have enough to get through a game at league one level. Just not a season. He knows it’s going through or else we’d have signed Lynch yesterday.killerandflash said:Maybe Lynch or another centre back has been training with the 1st team so is ready to play on Saturday if the embargo is lifted tomorrow morning and we can sign him before the deadline (1pm?).

Same here. We certainly need to sing his name loud and clear when we are finally allowed back to The Valley. I for one would be willing to sing it all game long.ValleyGary said:I’d dread to think where we would be without Bowyer1 -
Same comments been made on the takeover thread so I came on here to read them myself. Surprised because I read them differently. Bows obviously fed up that his hands have been tied but he knows a deal is going through & that next week he'll be able to bring in (some) of the players he wants. Just for now its frustrating as he is going into the first game of the season with not enough decent players. Reminds me of the 2018/19 season when he didn't fill the bench up at Sunderland. And look what happened at the end of that season.CH4RLTON said:Some of those comments don't really reek of a takeover being imminent.11
