    Yup they did... Nelson were in the Football League between 1921 and 1931

    1922/23 season they won the Third Division North, were they met Bury in the Second Division the following year...

    Bury won both games; 2-0 | 0-5

    Bury would win the 2nd Division that season; Nelson got relegated

    AFC Darwen are another side that Bury faced in the Football League

    Original team Darwen and Bury were in the Second Division together back in 1894/95, Bury won both those ties: 1-0

    Ironically Bury won the Second Division that season as well

    Looking at the state of that ball it must have been one that Simon Church smacked all round the park.

    I reckon it could be Nicky Baileys penalty miss one that got all misshapen on reentering the earth's atmosphere. 😉

    It's re-entered the earth's atmosphere?!

    I wasn't expecting that for another few decades; I thought the ball was still in interplanetary orbit somewhere near Neptune.

  • Level 10! Fair play to them though getting back up and running.

    Why are they called Bury AFC though and not AFC Bury?

    AFC Bury already exists, or they did

    Notice that the Isle of Man are entering a team in the same organisation as Bury AFC next season - Difference is they'll be in the South Division

    That'd be some away game weekend for the team 😜. Friend of mine up here used to play at that level and above for Northwich Victoria & Leek Town back in the day and his son was a CB with Crewe.

    Certainly more and more island teams being created

    Already got Guernsey and Jersey in the pyramid, the latter were harshly dealt with by the decision to null and void their League as they'd stormed the Division

    Wonder how long it'll be before we see Isle of Wight and others

    Are Bury still playing at Gigg Lane?
    Read comments on twitter that they'll be playing at Ratcliffe Borough

    Apparently Bury FC havent been wound up yet and are applying to enter the National League next season so if they're successful they'll use Gigg Lane

    Looking at this table it is very sad how the greed of dodgy businessman can bring a football club to it's knees.

    It will be interesting to see how clubs cope with attendances near 1000 when they normally get 50.  Bury will take loads to the away games.

    Didn't know this. I assumed fans had set up Bury AFC because the original Bury was dead and buried.

    So if the original Bury have their application successful and continue in the National league, surely Bury fans would follow them and have no need for the phoenix club?

    Is Steve Dale still involved?

    Steve Dale is still one of only 2 directors, the other is Jill Neville.

    The CVA has been closed but the creditors appear not to have been paid.

    There is a recent artical in the Bury local paper and he sounds rather bullish and arrogant that they will be excepted into the national league and that renegotiating the CVA won't be a problem.  Which does beg the question why none of the creditors have been paid.
  • Surely the league won't accept them if Dale is still in charge?

    He said in the artical he would "stand down as chairman" if the national league made it a requirement of entry.

    It does beg the question why he is still there though.  The up keed of the ground, which looks in very good shape and the training pitches at Carrington must be costing him money?

    SJ Global was the firm Farnell had lined up for Bury FC, with a late alleged transfer of £7mn that the EFL did not respond to before expelling Bury from the league.
    (Thought i should post this here, as well as the bonkers thread, in case there are any passing Bury fans or other interested parties passing through);

    This sham company served as damage limitation for Farnell and Dave Jones at the time and Bury fans had no time to react.

    https://sjglobalinvestments.com/meet-the-team/  (lots of business words, mentions of Dubai, snazzy website, hollow on content)

    then consider;

    https://www.bark.com/en/company/paul-van-der-hulks-photography/mXyL/  (Director of SJ Global, moonlighting as photographer- remind you of anyone?)

    http://news.sjglobal.info/bury-investors-have-proof-of-funds-worth-7million-following-clubs-expulsion-from-the-football-league/ [Fake site set up December 2019 to give the firm credence post-Bury- see https://whois.domaintools.com/sjglobal.info
    and http://news.sjglobal.info/2019/06/ [that's not even the same Neil Walsh who claims to be MD]

    https://sjglobalinvestmentsworldwideltdscams.blogspot.com/2019/11/our-scheming-scamming-business-model-to.html

    The Sun (Ken Lawrence article of 28th August 2019), said;

    " SunSport has seen an email addressed to some members of the EFL hierarchy which makes clear that SJ Global are valued at $500m “which clearly shows the company has enough money to buy Bury FC."

    Farnell said: “All of the clubs' senior staff are amazed the club was not allowed a small extension for a period of a few hours, in order that funds in excess of £7m be deposited into an account to provide proof of funds to the EFL.

    “This was a genuine offer and up until the EFL announcement, the funds were in the process of being transferred.

    “Now that opportunity to save the club has been taken away from Bury FC.”

    Farnell added: “We intend to try to make the EFL rescind their decision to expel Bury Football Club. The fight goes on.” - It didn't. The EFL ended the matter there.

    Dave Jones is quoted in the Sun (Ken Lawrence again, 28/8/19, different article), and repeated on the fake SJ Global site as saying:

    "Not some tin-pot organisation

    The Sun had spoken to former Southampton and Cardiff boss Dave Jones declared: “How quickly S J Global have moved the money to a bank account for the EFL to see shows that this club has been badly let down.

    “There was a promise to the EFL from S J Global that the money would be deposited by 9.00 am on Wednesday morning.

    “That deposit has now been placed and we are calling on the EFL to think again.

    “They had the opportunity to keep Bury alive, they had all the assurances they needed and they knew that S J Global was not some tin pot organisation”

    THEY WERE AND ARE THE EPITOME OF 'TIN POT'.

  • Will probably claim they could do so compared with Sheffield Wednesday because their initial punishment was given before the end of the season
