The fates of Hurst and Nathan Jones show the risks for up and coming managers
Hurst does a great job at Shrewsbury, goes to Ipswich and is sacked after 5 months. Then goes to Scunthorpe the next season and is sacked after 8 months
Nathan Jones does a great job at Luton, leaves in the middle of a promotion season to join Stoke and is sacked after 10 months

Good points .. Hurst really made his name by taking Grimsby from the National back to the EFL .. this kinda reinforces one of my favourite concepts, the Peter Principle .. thuskillerandflash said:The fates of Hurst and Nathan Jones show the risks for up and coming managers

Peter, which observes that people in a hierarchy tend to rise to their "level of incompetence": an employee is promoted based on their success in previous jobs until they reach a level at which they are no longer competent, as skills in one job do not necessarily translate to another. The concept was elucidated in the 1969 book The Peter Principle by Dr. Peter and Raymond Hull.' .. (unquote)

Exactly. I mean, neither of them were called Peter, so how is this relevant.Todds_right_hook said:j

Gary Bowyer gone from Bradford0
-
Waiting to see who starts a "Bowyer sacked" thread1
-
I've no idea what's going on there. Recalling Doyle then selling him to Swindon, then loaning top scorer James Vaughan to Tranmere0
-
TBH Bowyer couldn't really get anything from Doyle.killerandflash said:I've no idea what's going on there. Recalling Doyle then selling him to Swindon, then loaning top scorer James Vaughan to Tranmere
24 goals in 23 league game for Swindon
0 goals in 6 league game for Bradford
Saw loads of comments on twitter saying it was the way that Bowyer played, now he has been sacked, I bet their fans wished Doyle had stayed as Doyle staying under a new manager could be the difference between going up and not0 -
That's what happens when you sign Lee Novak.stackitsteve said:Gary Bowyer gone from Bradford3 -

Simon Grayson sacked by Blackpool0
-
Their last 10 league games have seen them pick up just 1 win (against relegation fodder Southend) and 2 draws while suffering 7 defeats0
-
Not a surprise, they've fallen apart badly after being in the top 2 early on. Brandon Hanlan sealing his fate with a 95th minute winner last night.0
-
Strange that they’ve struggled so much in recent weeks0
-
Another one of ours also scored, Regan Charles Cook.DyerConsequences said:Not a surprise, they've fallen apart badly after being in the top 2 early on. Brandon Hanlan sealing his fate with a 95th minute winner last night.0 -
another northern club tourist who after some success has just run out of ideas and the ability to motivate perhapsstackitsteve said:Simon Grayson sacked by Blackpool

Also seems to have aged about 20 years in the last 7.Lincsaddick said:

Shows the stress of being a (pretty poor) football manager.1 -
He'll get another job somewhere up north.0
-
Yep, even with his stock falling there's clubs like Rochdale & Rotherham still to go.0

Stevenage manager Graham Westley has resigned with the club bottom of League Two, ending his fourth spell as boss.
Former Stevenage forward Alex Revell, 36, has been placed in charge for the final 12 matches of the season.

Barring more points deductions for the likes of Macclesfield, Stevenage look doomed. I'm surprised he wasn't able to do better than he did do thereclive said:Stevenage manager Graham Westley has resigned with the club bottom of League Two, ending his fourth spell as boss.

Couple of years and he'll be back in charge for a fifth time trying to get them out the National League.1

Blackpool Football Club is delighted to announce that Neil Critchley has agreed to become Head Coach on a contract that runs until the end of the 2022/23 season.
One of only 16 coaches in the country to have gained the highest possible qualification in the game, the 41-year-old joins the Club from reigning UEFA Champions League holders Liverpool, where he has held the position of Under-23s coach.

An interesting choice, I guess Critchley enjoyed his games in charge this season in the FA Cup!1

In Scotland tonight, Daniel Stendel's Hearts beat Jack Ross's Hibs. Weird to think that until October they were managing our promotion rivals from last season Barnsley and Sunderland0

Nigel Clough steps down at Burton, with Jake Buxton taking over as player/manager
It looks like it was a financial decision as much as anything, just as with Luton0 -
This is a good opportunity for a player if you are about to retire and want to become a manager.
Experienced managers on higher wages are going to be relieved of their duties as cost cutting method, Jones and Clough are just the first 2 many more will go in the coming weeks and months and they will need to be replaced by less experienced first time managers on alot less wages
