Why would he leave Brentford for us or QPR?3
-
He's out of contract in the summer, and QPR are not a lot better than us, it may not even be true as we're going to be linked with loads especially if we get taken over.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Why would he leave Brentford for us or QPR?1 -
Sounds like exactly the sort of player Gallen would’ve identified.Charlton_Stu said:Ihttps://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/12/11/report-aston-villa-and-qpr-want-prolific-brentford-ace-jaden-bri/

We're interested in Jaden Brissett according to these reports.2 -
Interesting that the article says Brentford reserves "do not compete in a league structure but organise friendlies against teams from this country and abroad, as they believe these will give their players a better test than the reserve leagues."
Wonder if that is actually better, and if so, whether it's worth considering for other clubs.

Maybe they are still after Taylor and this Brissett might be included in a cash + player offer. That would be a disaster for us.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Why would he leave Brentford for us or QPR?0 -
Brentford closed their academy in 2016. Their model is to scout good young players for their B side, a lot from abroadChris_from_Sidcup said:Interesting that the article says Brentford reserves "do not compete in a league structure but organise friendlies against teams from this country and abroad, as they believe these will give their players a better test than the reserve leagues."

Just saw Aiden McGeady Sunderland has been given the ok to leave in January would he be a good fit for us? Discuss.2

Fat and lazy. No way !Indianaaddick said:Just saw Aiden McGeady Sunderland has been given the ok to leave in January would he be a good fit for us? Discuss.3 -
if we say the ideal central defensive partnership is to have 1 aerially dominant attacker of the ball and another quick, good on the ball player alongside him then we need a complete overhaul of our central defenders because none tick either of those boxes. However, Bobby Moore wasn't quick. I think Lockyer will be good enough (would be very good if he had pace) but we have to buy an aerial powerhouse - if he's got pace as well then your probably looking at van djyk. Short term, get the aerial guy in, long term we need a pacy centre back to add to the mix - gomez will doBangkokaddick said:IR94 said:
not sure the part about struggling against big physical forwards is true, he had a great battle with Mitrovic, its the quick forwards that really show his weaknesses.harveys_gardener said:Jason Pearce
1. Defends too deep so team harder to link with midfield2. May beat Rojo on a footrace because latter is hungover (24/7)
3. Octopus defending.
4. Poor passing, few forward, fewer finding man.
5. Dumped by every side winning promotion to Champ6. Barely more than six foot, doubt he'd have done better on Smith assault. Struggles against big physical forwards.Yes, and he tries to compensate by shirt pulling and wrestling which gives free kicks in dangerous areas and even penalties. But Sarr doesn't do enough of that and although he looks more comfortable on the ball than Pearce there are too many basic errors.Including Oshilaja we have four central defenders so I'm not sure that another will be on the shopping list. If it is Preston have this German guy.....0 -
Not for me. He's 34 in April and hasn't been playing well this seasonIndianaaddick said:Just saw Aiden McGeady Sunderland has been given the ok to leave in January would he be a good fit for us? Discuss.2 -
Definitely- overweight and injury prone.Indianaaddick said:Just saw Aiden McGeady Sunderland has been given the ok to leave in January would he be a good fit for us? Discuss.2 -
think we need to start shopping in the 'solid citizens' market now - the talented but injury prone department has well and truly caught up with us - particularly if we want to get them 'charlton fit'Indianaaddick said:Just saw Aiden McGeady Sunderland has been given the ok to leave in January would he be a good fit for us? Rob Dickie? Oxford defender, only been dribbled past once all season0

Mattie pollock at Grimsby has scouts in abundance looking at him. A really good classy young centre half who is ready to step up. His father is Jamie pollock once of. Middlesbrough and Manchester City. The old man is massively overweight these days but his son is class. Gallen get up and see this lad.1

last season Bowyer was interviewed after the Sunderland game (league one at the Valley) .. when asked 'who would you like from the Mackems ?' Bowyer straight away said 'Aiden McGeady' .. he do us a RIGHT good service .. he's Jonny Williamsish without the injury issues (Parkinson reportedly has told him to find a new club in January)Indianaaddick said:Just saw Aiden McGeady Sunderland has been given the ok to leave in January would he be a good fit for us? Pollock from Grimsby ? .. great name for a player in the one time fish capital of England ((:>)

He is also well into the twilight of his career, if Sunderland don't want him in League One why would we want him in the champ? Its a no from me.Lincsaddick said:

Apart from being a bit younger you could say that about Adam Matthews who we picked up after Sunderland released himCovered_End_Lad said:

Imagine they're struggling with the current wage budget they're no doubt still trying to reduce1 -
could be a record for an oldie midfield, Ledley, McG and Pratley ((:>)ForeverAddickted said:

6 years younger.. and we signed Matthews as cover for Solly, he has done very well to displace him. Mcgeady signed his new deal with Sunderland in the summer and yet by december they want rid? At coming up to 34 i think we can do better. A few years ago he would have been a good signing but now he is not what we need.ForeverAddickted said:

Apologies to all for bringing up bad memories2 -
new manager Parky told to reduce the wage bill ? .. I'll wager if McG is willing and the deal is right, Bowyer will snap him up .. if not he'll go to an ambitious club like Pompey, Preston, one like that .. we will see.Covered_End_Lad said:

Marcus Maddison apparently free to leave Posh in January. £2.6m release clause.
I've said this before - he is a fantastic player. Not wired up right but when he is on his day he is brilliant - you've only got to check his stats out for the last couple of seasons to see that.
He's just tuned 26 so a great age too.
I'd hope he's on our wish list...he's something special if a little erratic6 -
Jonson Clarke-Harris seems likely to leave Bristol Rovers in January, but is he another Lyle Taylor getting better and better or another Nicky Ajose who's done well at one club and will struggle elsewhere?
1 -
Very interested to see how our wage structure changes under the new owners. I can’t imagine the current team, who are paid very little compared to their championship colleagues, will be too pleased with our first January signing being on twice as much money as them.1
-
I suspect the latter .. used to see him at the Millers where he had a bad reputation as a brat, a sulker and would too often go missing during games.. I also remember him blazing a pen over the bar against us a few seasons back ..killerandflash said:Jonson Clarke-Harris seems likely to leave Bristol Rovers in January, but is he another Lyle Taylor getting better and better or another Nicky Ajose who's done well at one club and will struggle elsewhere?
you never know, he could be more mature now having learnt a few lessons .. I suspect Rovers will want a good few quid for him (and of course that will be the case for any 1/2 decent striker)
