Italy could be a dark horse at next years tournament. They’ve rebuilt since not qualifying for the World Cup and having their games in Rome will help.
I didn't know one of our players plays for Italy. Apparently Immobile scored twice tonight.
  • Ireland draw and go into the playoffs. An interesting contrast, they scored 7 goals in 8 games, England 37...

Yes England had some easier games, but Ireland only beat Gibraltar 1-0 and 2-0, can you imagine how many England would have scored against them

Got to say... Ireland very unlucky to go out in that game

    An impressive turnaround under Mancini

Since the Euros have expanded in size to 16 and now 24 sides, it has made qualifying much easier for the big countries though. Italy were in a group of 6, with the nearest competitors Finland and Greece.

Ireland didn't deserve to go through.

Only scored 7 goals in 8 games. Only won 3 games out of 8, 2 of which as you say were against Gibraltar, a team we'd have beaten by 7 or 8.

You can also say they only lost 1 game and only let in 5 goals in the 8 games
They’re  gonna be pony they got a smaller pool of players to pick from like Scotland
Population of London is more than the population of Ireland (although the whole of London is prolly eligible to play for them ! )

Scoring more goals against Gibraltar would have left Ireland in the same place in the table. We needed to beat either Denmark (2 draws) or Switzerland (1 draw) to improve the standing in the table.

Ireland will now face Slovakia away in there playoff if wales beat Hungary

If wales and Hungary draw and Slovakia beat Azerbaijan then Ireland will play wales in there playoff

If wales lose to Hungary then Ireland will need to wait for the draw to see who they play but it will be away

Absolutely but my point was more that if you struggle v Gibraltar then you have issues. Even if the home game, one was an own goal and the second came in the 93rd minute.

However if they play like they did last night, then they've got a great chance of winning their play off.

In Rugby it's the Island of Ireland, but in football it's Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland which is bordering on the ridiculous to be different in the two sports.

Rugby shows the way to unite Ireland for 80+ minutes.

There has been talks about joining both leagues from the north and the Republic, so if that was to happen, then who knows.

    Fraid its not that simple

Taken from the Euro 2020 website...

    Path A: Iceland, Bulgaria/Israel/Romania*, Wales/Slovakia/Republic of Ireland/Northern Ireland**
Path B: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Wales/Slovakia/Republic of Ireland/Northern Ireland**
Path C: Scotland, Norway, Serbia, Bulgaria/Israel/Romania*
Path D: Georgia, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Belarus

*In the current scenario, a draw would decide which of Bulgaria, Israel or Romania would fill the empty slot in Path C, and which two would go into Path A.

**In the current scenario, a draw would decide which three of Wales, Slovakia, Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland would join Bosnia and Herzegovina in Path B, and which one would go into Path A

The advantage that Romania and Ireland have is the fact that they're both co-hosts so I've got a feeling that UEFA wont allow them to both be in the same Play-Off Path

Think we can all agree that we hope Bulgaria end up with the hardest possible route to the Finals!!

Would be an absolute joke if they got to Euro 2020

I saw Mick McCarthy said similar (that they've got either Wales / Slovakia / Hungary in the Play-Offs)

Guess the newspaper have taken that as gospel

The draw to Georgia didnt help ok 2 extra points wouldnt have changed your position, but would have helped the confidence going into the Switzerland game

It may be confusing but Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic would be out without it. I think Northern Ireland deserve to go through given the toughness of their group and how they performed in it.

Imagine playing 3 halves against Kazakhstan

Losing all 3 without scoring a goal.

No surely that would never happen 🤣🤣🤣

    Scotland 1-1 Kazakhstan

The minnows are back in it. Scotland level it up with a stroke of luck as John McGinn thumps a free-kick in via a chocking great deflection.

    Follow that one here.
