Thomas Dolby - One Of Our Submarines
Engaging, intelligent synth-pop from a chap who made splendid music in the early 1980s.
The inspiration for the song was Dolby's late uncle, who died as a submarine crewman during World War II.

I caught OMD live in Barcelona last night. Pretty much the usual run of hits across the decades - they have a long list. But wonderfully for the likes of me who grew up with them when they were more experimental back at the start of the eighties, we were rewarded with Statues and Almost from the early days. It literally blew me away. It Will also make my family happy, as since I saw the Offspring back in august, they have had me playing Offspring/Nirvana/red Hot Chilli Peppers over and over, and they might get some different music coming from the bathroom for a bit.

I envy you the VIP stuff. The guy behind me was at the gig earlier for the soundcheck before and met the band. Didn't entirely get the gist of how he got the tickets but that would have been a blast.Great to see them still playing Electricity to close the night!0

He's had so many great albums.Jessie said:I was listening to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' Ghosteen last night. I was shocked to learn that Nick Cave's son had died a few years before. So with that tragic information I found the album extremely sad. I absolutely loved the soundtrack to The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford back in 2008 but Ghosteen is only the second album by Nick Cave that I've got around to playing. Guess I've missed out on a lot of great music by him in the past decade.
Try Murder Ballads (includes great track with Kylie), Abattoir Blues, The Lyre of Orpheus, Dig Lazarus Dig, Push the Sky Away, Skeleton Tree.3 -

Loved this band although they didn't last long - saw most of their London gigs from 1979-1982
