I went to see Jimmie Dale Gilmore years ago at the Garage Highbury & Islington, he didn't disappoint. I really love his voice.
Reminds me of Willie Nelson, another Texan .. I had never heard of him before his track with Dave Alvin was mentioned by one of my favourite authors, John Sandford, so, I had a listen ((:>)
Live at the Albert Hall, one of Jimi's best concerts, which had its world premier last month, I have a bootleg copy, and although the film is not the best quality the audio is fine. This preview shows the colour and the promise of what I am told by the people who went was a great gig. After 50 long years, I bloodywell hope so!. Love the idea that people could walk across the stage literally, and that sound system, with a wall of Marshall's all cranked up, by Roger Mayer must have been awesome, He must have looked like a man from outer space, he certainly played like no one else did at the time, and few if any have ever since....... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6egSVu3rYhs
Saw Ian and the Blockheads at the Lyceum in 1982 and 1983 - amazing shows!
He was wonderful live, a real theatric, microphone stand smothered in coloured hankies.
and of course the Blockheads were (still are) a superb set of musicians .. love the twin keyboard players .. possibly Britain's best 'jazz band' of their era
