I know Nathan Thompson was mentioned as a potential rb who was a free agent. He’s just signed for Peterborough.0

I think Thompson probably needs to fire his agent as he's had a shocker.1 -

But the player was surely disappointed not to be offered a contract by a Championship club.
He's 28. Time is not on his side if he has ambition to play at a higher level.

surprised we didnt come in for Thompson0
-
Perhaps Thompson thought he might as well play in League One for League One wages.0
-
I’ve seen Thompson play a fair bit. Really don’t think he’s as good as people made him out to be, and by all accounts a bit of a knob too.0

BBC Sport transfer section showing him as gone to Cambridge. Maybe he changes trains there for Peterborough?1

Callumcafc said:Brighton looking to loan out Tomer Hemed again this season. Worth a look?
Brighton will probably want us to pay some wages but not sure if he’s on Championship money or Premier League money.
37 goals in 94 apps over three seasons in the Championship. Last season on loan at QPR.9 -

Hemed or (Matt) Taylor? Tough one. Not.2

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants English midfielder Herbie Kane, 20, to feature in their Carabao Cup campaign, ending the hopes of Portsmouth, Sunderland and Coventry of signing the player on loan. (Portsmouth News)
Interestingly Herbie Kane could be staying with Liverpool now0 -
Not sure if been mentioned but Adam Matthews also training with us.

Very strong CV up until last season or so at Sunderland...1 -

Certainly shouldnt be dropping back into League One, dont see it as being beneficial to his development
Might not be bad for us though as if we were to lose Cullen in January, he'd be a good option as a replacement0 -

If neither are a success, then we've lost nothing.
If the one we were to sign was a success, I'd rather have a 27 year old, to whom we can offer a contract extension, than a 36 year old (and I'm not criticising Mears) who is looking for a last payday.4 -

Winner would certainly be showing a lot of fight for the cause, we've got a few holes where we can hide whoever loses0 -
I wonder what caused Adam Mathews to seemingly lose his way?
His pedigree is very decent. He's played in the Prem, Championship, Scottish Prem and in League one for Sunderland.
He's a full Wales international, capped 14 times.
But at 27, he finds himself without a club.
Here's something to read about his career:

I guess he was on high wages with Sunderland from their Premier League days
Season in the Championship left him with no takers and a season in League One certainly left him with no takers... Cant imagine a Premier League team wanting to touch someone at a club with a poor two years, nor can I imagine a Championship team wanting to pay someone on such high wages for similar reasons - take Ben Amos and his struggles of late with finding loan clubs from Bolton.
Matthews deal of course ended in the summer which game Sunderland the chance to get him off the wage bill - Reckon they'd have kept him at the club else
Remember him being very highly rated when he initially came through @ Cardiff though so would be very happy if we signed him
Sort of thing that amuses me (e.g. Jacko scoring his first goal at the Valley for Spurs) yet Matthews' first ever appearance on the bench for Cardiff was at the Valley (2-2 draw), didnt get on though1 -

After only two appearances for Sunderland, he joined Championship club Bristol City on loan for the remainder of the season, on 7 March 2016.[25] He made his debut in Bristol City's 6–0 win over bottom club, Bolton Wanderers on 19 March.[26] Matthews helped City to safety during his nine appearances.
Do we really want to be signing players who can only help their club to safety, surely we only want players who know how to win the Championship now?0 -
After years of everyone calling Damian Matthew, Damian Matthews.....
Im looking forward to Adam Matthews being called Adam Matthew for his time as a Charlton player4 -
Another Welsh international to add to Williams and Lockyer...3
